about my dad

my daddy is 60 years old today, but he doesn't look like his age.

When he was young, he looked abit like Jackie Chan, especially with his big nose (think i inherited that too! :P). He wore skinny pants and aviator shades. He was very handsome in his early days according to my mum.

He was the pioneer batch of NS men and was part of the platoon that marched across the Padang during National Day.

He has a very good artistic sense that's why he became a graphics designer. He still continues to design 2D graphics for clients and he enjoys his work.

When I was young, he loves to piggy back me. Sometimes when we were about to reach home in our Hyundai Accent, i would feign sleep so that he can carry me home in comfort :P

My dad loves to watch Discovery Channel as he claims that as his ticket to the world. He loves to sing and mimic Andy Lau (although sometimes i thought his true voice sounds better!).

He's always our 'rubbish dump' during meals, that's why he has a big pot belly! When he laughs, his eyes turned into a single line which really reminds me of the laughing Buddha! *lol*

He loves the family heaps and he is always there when we needed him: an artwork due to hand in the next day, designing of posters for school event, ironing of work shirt for 1st day of work, washing our shoes when he saw that it's dirty.

He is truly the pillar of support in the family and as I watch him age and over these years, I begin to realise how BIG a heart he has to forgive us of our mistakes time and again, love us for who we are, and caring for us in his own quiet ways.

I am proud of his achievements in life, proud to be his daughter and I'm proud to say that I LOVE YOU SO MUCH Daddy!!

Happy 60th Birthday to you, life will only go better from here :):):):)

when the sun, moon and stars aligned..

4th July is the widely known US Independence Day, but on this day, halfway across the other side of the globe, at the northern tip of NSW, my milkboy finally proposed :):):):):):):)

it was a lovely day to begin with, we had made plans to visit Eug's mummy's puppy which she has bought here (to be shipped to SG when he's 3months' old) to take some pics and play w him before he goes back.

it was a bright and cloudless day and we travelled almost 120km down south to the dog farm at Murwillumbah.

We reached there early and took a walk nearby to take photos of the vast farmland and to the background of the mountains and took heaps of photos! (loved the weather!)

the pine we picked up on the side of the road. What a great prop to use! :P

this is my favourite shot! :P

We had heaps of fun with Kenji. He's such a darling at 8wks old and he's so special because he has a shorter than usual tail and he really looks at u in the eye when u talk to him (as if he understands!) and he'll try to squirm his way out if you hug him too long. TOO CUTE!

doesn't he look ADORABLE????

the family photo :P

we went to Byron Bay after the visit to spend the rest of the day there. Little did I know that the plan has already been set into motion... :):):)

we made a visit to the lighthouse for photo opportunities but it was so crowded even though it was mid-day. the view was great nonetheless and the vast Pacific Ocean was simply breathtaking.

The lighthouse kind of reminded me of the white houses in Santorini, Greece, somewhere that I'd like to go with Eug someday :)

We drove back to the town centre to have a quick shop and rested our feet at Twisted Sistas cafe with a good cup of Chai Latte each and huge rich slice of raspberry cheesecake. YUMS!!

The place was pretty small and quirky town, with boutiques, cafes and restaurants dotting along each side of the road leading to the beach.

There wasn't much else to do and so we thought we'll nest ourselves at the beachside to see the sunset.

Everything was perfect. The sun setting in the west end with the moon already high up on the east. Then I thought about something that Eug said when I'd always ask him when will he propose (very unabashedly :P) "when the sun, moon and stars aligned".

And I thought "hmm, the sun and moon are both up in the skies now but there's no stars yet. maybe it's not now"

We cuddled up till the sky turned dark before we head to the nearby restaurant for fresh grilled catch of the day.

and I thought again "hmm, it's getting late i think we should be heading home after dinner. I guess there shouldn't be anything happening..."

And Eug suggested taking a stroll along the beach. I didn't want to initially because it was freezing outside with the sea wind but I'd thought why not give ourselves some time before the night really ends?

And then I saw the starry skies hanging above our heads and I gaped in awe.

We walked to a part of the beach where there was not many people in sight and Eug suddenly hugged me from behind. Just when i was getting drowsy from the food (i almost fell aslp!), he whipped out his iPhone and asked me to play this video....

I cried buckets when I saw how he painstakingly drew every frame of the video of our story and when the words came out at the end, he took out a pink box from his pocket and asked "Will you marry me?" to which I nodded in between my buckets of tears as he slid the ring into my finger.

I was speechless, just like how he said he'd make me if he propose. It was so silly when I finished crying but I was happy. Really happy :):):):):)

I text-ed everyone on our way home to share the happy news and I couldn't stop starting at the huge bling on my 4th left finger because it has been barren for too long! Now that sparkle will just about brighten up my life everyday from now on :D

P/S: we saw a shooting star on our way home too! God is amazing!! :)

Thank you for everything that you've done, I'm so glad and thankful that we're able to spend the rest of our lives together, knowing how much we love each other and how much we meant to one another. I love you darling...

june blessings

first half of the year is almost gone!!!

Let's recap what was done: Went to Sydney for CNY in Jan, my 1st birthday celebration in Brisbane (Mar), anniversary (April), went home for vacation and hOi's wedding in May and started my CA now!!

June is also a month of blessings: blessing of my dearest friends who've been my source of support and fun in Brissy!

First up, before i head back to SG, we managed to get together to sing KTV!!

It was my first 'maiden' KTV session here and it was not bad!! Price was pretty reasonable too and the songs were very recent ;)

then it was Mei's birthday on 13th June and our cell surprised her and celebrated again with more friends on the actual day with true-blue Malaysian nasi lemak!!

Had a nice catch-up dinner with the newly-engaged Jadey and Zoe and Myra at my new-favourite Korean BBQ restaurant! The food was sooo good!!

I heart their KIMCHI!!! :D:D

and i'm FINALLY going to start my CA now with the Tax module. I'm gonna aim to study for 2 hours every night after dinner so that i pace my progress well. I'm determined to pass with flying colours! Wish me luck! :)

to hOi

and so on this special day, 23rd May 09, ms pang hoi ning is finally married to her one true love, pei tong. :):):):)

on her big day, our dear bride got up real early to prepare. even though she didn't manage to sleep enough the previous night, the excitement awaits her on that day was enough to give her all smiles :D

at 7.30am, all the bridesmaids arrived at the bride's house to prepare for the bridegroom and his groosmen's arrival!

They thought it was so easy to just give us a couple of hundred of Indonesian rupiah and HKD (to think they even went to change it!) and we will let them through.

Of course we have to play some games!

Alas, after much haggling and the heat with 7 men at the door wearing suits, Mr Pei Tong tried to persuade his way in.

(this is the classic shot of him! *lolx*)

the cutest flower girl and page boy that night (totally stole the limelight - ALMOST :P)

and the newly-minted Mr and Mrs Ng walk down the aisle to happily ever after.

I guess I was probably the busiest bridesmaid that day: being a jiemei, emcee for the night, perform a song item with the rest of the jiemeis and gave a speech (i should be awarded the Breakthrough Female Performance title! :D )

the groomsmen put up an item as well, but of course they can't beat our angelic voices :P

You can tell how proud hoi's parents are to have such a lovely daughter and i was honestly very touched when Hoi thanked her parents and family for all their love and nurturing all these years. (i shed ALOT of tears :'(

It's almost a month since her wedding but I'm still excited at how their new life will begin now as a couple, as each other's pillar of support, as each other's soul mate.

Happy 1 month wedding anniversary Mr and Mrs Ng :) I'm really happy and honoured to be part of this milestone of your journey together as a wedded couple.

祝福你们爱情每天滋长,幸福地展开属于你们最美丽的故事。:):):):):)

tiredddd

I'm soooo tired that I crashed till 3pm when I reached back at 7. The flight was disruptive, with a male passenger kept going in and out and I had to get out of my aisle seat for him. :(:(:(:(

Plus the passenger behind me asked me not to recline my seat to the max, hence a very awkward position which resulted in only 1hrs of good sleep. *BAH*

The past 2 weeks have been a very eventful one, with all the catch-ups with friends and family, hoi's wedding and my own preparations, it didn't quite feel like a holiday to me :/ Wished I had more time back home to rest and relax.

On another note, i'm happy that I get to meet most of the people I've planned to meet (quite according to the schedule and checklist I've prepared beforehand) and all the things I've set out to do were done or set in motion (and also something BIG that came as a huge surprise)

Thank God for keeping me going even though I can literally fell asleep many a times outside but He knows that I want to spend more quality time with my family and friends.

Now I can't wait for Dec to come where I'll be back home for Christmas and NY and a very special event in Jan :):):):):):)

out.
