7 reasons why I'm so blessed and loved
Monday, October 25, 2010 @ 1:27 pm

2 weeks of holidays flew past just like this. I know I was very thankful everyday for the love I received from family and friends and the quality spent with every one.

As Eug said the only thing I do is "MSN, Facebook, upload photos and blog" :D I shall write up something of my awesome 2 week back home.

First, it was meant to be a surprise for my family. It was intended to be for my mum-in-law too but things took a slight turn so she was kept in the loop of my return :P

and so you would've read in my previous post that the surprise was a huge success! I can genuinely feel my parents really happy that I'm home.

I met up with my close group of friends (which i realised there are alot! thank God for all these great pals :))) and spent alot of time with both of my family. It really made me appreciate all the things they have done (taking their time off to bring me around to eat and giving me real gourmet treats!) and I'm really very very blessed! :D

The highlights of my trip:

1. I love my family!!!

Part of my surprise worked beautifully was because I skyped with mum and dad every week and I managed to find out what they had planned to do during the 2 weeks I'm back!

So knowing that Mum took leave for her birthday, I planned my time to go shopping with her (which I know she misses), booked a nice birthday dinner at Shangri-La (thanks to bestie!) and a weekend stayover at Marina Bay Sands (thanks to Chewie!).

I went to Sunday service with mum-in-law and kevin & ser (can I say Ps Prince is awesome??!) and knowing that I missed durians so much, they bought me Mao Shan Wang to satiate my taste buds! I literally gulped down the flesh and almost wanted to swallow the seeds! HAHA

Had yum-cha twice with MIL too and I know she enjoys my company and dotes on me alot. I am veryv blessed to have such a generous and loving MIL :)))

I love my family!!

2. I love my SN Sistas!

What can I say? They're the bunch of girlfriends that I knew the longest and despite some of us being away overseas at different points in our lives, we always make an effort to catch up with one another. These are really the friends for life :)))))

3. I love my pals!

During my 2 weeks stay, I, :
- Met up with XP for PS Cafe truffle fries before she flew off to China for work
- Met up with hOi and B and had dinner with Andrea (Mellben crabs!)
- Juice and baby talk with Huimin at Starbucks
- Attended Yvonne's wedding and caught up with the Pw gang
- 4-hour chat/drink session with Eug's bestman, Shawn
- All day food hunting with Sin and dinner with NTU gang
- Had lunch with Geok at her work place
- Breakfast with cousin Tiffy

WOOHOO! i'm so happy I get to meet everyone! But there's still a couple I didn't get to meet due to their work schedule. but I'm more than thankful already :)))))

4. 20th Friendship anniversary with Bestie!

it's the 20th year since we knew each other (back in prep sch when were 6 yrs old!) so we decided to set a date to commemorate this special event in our lives and 20.10.2010 is the most apt! (lots of couples get married this day too :P)

so we had a sleepover at bestie's place, and transformed to 16 years old students the next day and went out to Orchard like some students playing truant! HAH! oops :P nobody caught us but we did get occasional stares from 'fellow students' but who cares! :P

We had brunch at Wild Honey (most ex brunch ever! but nice :P) and went to take silly photos at Kinokuniya (acting studious) and met our sec school chinese teacher! What are the odds to find someone from St. Nicks that day? Heh :P

and I suggested to take neoprints too! We can't even remember where to find those machines and had to call up for help! Turns out the ones at Heeren were closed and we managed to find it at Cineleisure for $12! Geez! But we had great fun!! it was so stressful trying to decorate our neoprints within the set time but it was really hilarious! :P

ta-daaa~~ our souvenir for the day :P

5. stuffed myself silly!!

I still salivate when i see the pictures of these food!!

From top left: Truffle Fries from PS Cafe @ Palais Renaissance, Coffee @Papa Palheta, (3 pics from top row) Tonkotsu ramen & side dishes from Ippudo @ Mandarin Gallery, Mixed berries pancakes @ Food For Thought Queen St, Mao Shan Wang ice cream @ Udders Bt Timah, Cheese steak sliders @ Over Easy One Fullerton

From bottom left: Tunisian breakfast @ Wild Honey, Sweet desserts @ Honeymoon Dessert 313 Somerset, Mao Shan Wang durian @ random stall at Clementi and Baked eggs @ Hatched Evans Lodge

of course, there are the normal hawker food I missed so much such as chwee kway, chee cheong fun, prata, mee chiang kueh, goreng pisang, tau huey, vegeterian beehoon and many more!!!

6. my furry friends!

I missed Kenji so much!! boy has he grown!!! Still one big cuddly doggie and all I had to do was to rub his tummy and he likes me already! :P Pls don't forget me!!!

I met up with Sin's new puppy Colby too, a very handsome 5 month old schnauzer. He was very friendly and playful but is still learning how to listen to commands.

I'm still wondering when I had curbed my fears of dogs. I still remember being chased after by a maltese when I was in primary school and didn't dare to go near to dogs.

I guess I'm a dog lover now! Heh :P can't wait to have our own too :P

Oh did u know there's a new breed called Groodles? Golden retriever crossed with Poodle! Ahh love it already!! :P

7. baby of the year - Le Xi!

Can i just say she's the most adorable baby ever!!! (ok my future kids will be the CUTEST :P hahaha!)

I'm so proud of Hoi for delivering B in 1hour and really inspired me to be a great mum next time. She breastfeeds her up to 6 times a day, bathe her, cuddles her, changes her diapers and did this with very little help.

and i'm sure she's very proud of herself too, for carrying B in her womb for 10months and finally holding a little baby in her arms. I can really feel all the bliss and happiness as a new mum. Jiayou hoi!!! muacks!

I'm really thankful for this trip home which God made it possible in every way: promo SQ airtix, all the love from family and friends, spending below budget even thought I bought 15 pieces of clothing (!!) and being able to sleep for almost 4 hours because there were empty seats beside me. Praise God! :)))))))

now it's less than 2 months to end of 2010 and Christmas, my favourite holiday :))))

Good luck everyone and let's make the remaining 2010 a fantastic one!

Cheers! ;)

Sydney~~~
Saturday, September 26, 2009 @ 9:47 am

the collage basically sums up my 1 week Sydney study/holiday trip :):):)

Loads of food and shopping with Lala and Clarice + ZD and gf (now fiancee :P) arrived on Tues so more food and laughter!

Spend last weekend going for great breakfast, coffee, shopping at the markets and weekday dinners.

Weather was awesome until the unfortunate dust storm that blanketed Sydney on Wednesday morning. Funny thing was all of us came out of our rooms at 6am to see what's happening because it was bright orange outside the visibility was only a few metres. That's gotta be the highlight of our trip i suppose. :P

and not to mention our dear ZD proposed that same day (after the dust cleared) to his gf and we celebrated over a nice bottle of Brown Brothers :) Cheers!

Having a bit of post-Sydney withdrawal as i settle in my comfy apartment back in Brissy. Missing all the fun and laughter with the girls and of coz Eug who will still be there till next week.

Crunch time till Tues' exams! JIAYOU!!

the season of love
Tuesday, December 25, 2007 @ 11:18 pm

Although I felt reluctant to acknowledge the fact that i'm back on home grounds after the wonderful 7days of fun, I must admit that I felt really loved when I got home.

Reason #1:

I din expect my brother and his gf would get me something for Christmas! It was really a pleasant surprise, and the bag can double up as gym bag during work days and for short getaway trips or chalet! ;)

Reason #2:

I come back to a room that is spick and span and has changed into new bedsheets Mummy bought for me and in my favourite girlish colors as well. After staying 3 nights on a rocky boat (am still feeling kinda giddy actually :/), this is what I longed for.....*awwwww*

Reason #3:

From my 2 very good frens, hOi and MG (agreed upon nickname :P). I love the hand cream fragrance and those green turtle bathroom slippers!!! Just in time for my PJs party this Fri!!

And, I'm so thankful that God has showered me with His love during the entire trip and I'm truly blessed for His Grace. Amen!

Merry Christmas to everyone! Hope you have a good holiday like I did too! :)

back from Taiwan!
Saturday, June 02, 2007 @ 9:47 pm

5 days just wheezed by like a flicker of an eyelid!

At this time yesterday, I was still doing some mad shopping and da bao-ing food back to hotel to eat and rest my feet. And today, I'm already home *sadzz*

It was really a good holiday break come to think of it. Had loads of fun with MB, bought alot of stuff for myself, family and friends and really got to experience the Taiwan culture and their people much better as compared to last year.

We arrived at about 8+pm in Taipei and sped to clear the customs so that we can board the airport bus as soon as possible. Turns out that due to the late hour, the airport bus doesn't drop us off at our hotel like what we've heard from our frens.

And we wanted to really want to be a budget traveller, so we lugged our luggages across 3 streets to reach their mrt station and took a train to Ximending, walk for 5min to reach our hotel. In ONE HOUR. *tirreeddd*

2nd day, the plan was to 'sightsee' those famous shopping malls like Taipei 101, New York New York and Mitsukoshi. Fanciful names with fanciful boutiques. Almost ALL the designer brands have a boutique there (some of those we never hear or seen before in SG) and I start to wonder, if Taiwanese are THAT rich after all. (Prolly those celebs :P)

shopping 101

No money to buy, so I jus take pictures of the malls :P

After which, we doodled around at Taipei 101 (the place is freaking exxx!!) before setting off to Wu Fen Pu, the much raved about wholesale market to shop.

But sadly, I was rather disappointed, coz first, most of the shops sell similar stuffs and there were 100+ shops like these, so after awhile, I was rather overwhelmed by their selection and 'consistency'. 2ndly, you can't try their clothes, so for big-sized girls like me, it's kinda hard to buy the stuff coz you never noe if you might jus pop one button or cant zip that bottom up or something.

So end up we left after 1hr+ of browsing and 2 tops I got from the first shop I stepped into. *bleahzzz*

The next day, we got up real early to catch an early bus to the Leofoo Theme Park!!!! MB has been bugging to go so I thought maybe we can go take a look. Bought the bus tix and admission tix (we applied for this Youth Travel Card at the airport when we landed, so there was discount) and off we went!!

I've never been to any large scale theme park (not counting the defunct Fantasy Island), so it's kinda interesting to actually visit one. I'm not sure about HK Disneyland or whatsoever, but Leofoo is really BIG! There are like those separate themed areas like the Latin zone, the Wild Wild West zone and such, and we managed to catch one of their performances also.

The zoo was great too! There were just so many species of animals! I dunno why, but although I'm pretty sure our own zoo has those animals too, but when I saw them at Leofoo, it's as if I'm on my maiden trip to see animals!

Leofoo Zoo

The animals are just soooo cute!!!

And the best stuffs are yet to come! Animals sight-seeing were just the 'appetiser', the 'main course' were all the rides!! MB wanted me to try the easy-peasy ones and go slow until the ultimate Screaming Condor ride (which really got me screaming my lungs out, wobbly legs and slight giddyness :S), and I had so much fun!!! It certainly brought back good old memories when I used to go to Asian Village @ Sentosa with my parents to ride the Viking (to me, that was the ultimate! :P)

little children

We were like little children that day... :)

3rd day was SHOPPING day. We've got some mission to accomplish, like getting some clothes, bags, books and MB's Gundam toys. And we conclude that Shihlin Night Market is the best place to go, if you really have limited time.

There's loads of local foods there, like 豪大大鸡排,生煎包,orh luah, ice jelly drink (or they call it 爱玉冰), smelly beancurd and what nots. Plus the whole stretch of shops and stalls selling all kinds of knick knacks! There were loads of interesting printed tee, shops that sell everything at NT133 only, jeans shops that you can try on, stress balls, shoes, bags, undergarments, leather... almost everything! We were quite blown away by the huge variety and honestly, I think I really GRABBED at anything that's nice! :P

Ximending was also a good place to dig out stash. I managed to find some interesting knitted tops and belts from some of the shops around the area. You really have to be patient and walk around a couple of times, to really find something that catches your eye. :)

On the lasy day, we decided to sleep in and grab a good lunch at one of the restaurants. We popped by this jap restaurant called 黑车轮, which is a Jap restaurant that serves sushi on motor trains running around the place (in place of normal conveyor belts). We were so tempted to grab one from the train but since we din see anyone doing it, we decided against it. And then I overheard the lady boss telling one customer that they were actually FAKE. Phew, luckily we din take from there, else it'll be super embarrassing!! :P:P:P:P

jap food

Real Japanese feel...

After a hearty meal, we set off to Dan Shui's Fisherman's' Wharf to take picture at the famous Lover's Bridge!

Dan Shui is actually the last stop of one of their lines so we sat all the way thru and changed bus at the station to reach the place. It was so BEAUTIFUL!! The weather was perfect, bright and sunny (although it got abit too warm for comfort later on) but I love the scenery there! It's just so different from other parts of Taipei: No skyscrapers and large bustling crowd, just some picturesque scenery with the background of the mountain and the sea.

Lovers @ Fisherman's Wharf

Look the bright blue sky! The place is just breathtaking....

We left Dan Shui with 2 big bags of local goodies like muah chee and fish crackers and headed back early to our hotel to rest.

It was a wonderful holiday break that was much needed and I'm so glad I was able to re-experience Taipei all over again. I'll probably visit Taiwan again in 3-4 years' time, and by then I hope to travel around Taiwan by railway and explore the counties. :)

Thank God for everything. :)
