freedom!!!!
Tuesday, December 15, 2009 @ 6:25 pm

I AM FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've waited this day for so long and I'm just stoked at the thought that this is the start of my long holidays!!! :D

I was literally counting down as I was doing my exam "alright 3 questions done, one more to go to freedom!" and that really kept me going!

Thank God I was able to finish the paper and had time to check through the calculations (and rectified an error!) + I knew exactly where to find all the notes to answer all the questions. Praise God for answering my prayers! :D:D:D

Now it's time to pack my luggage to get ready for homecoming! *beams beams beams*

tiredddd
Sunday, May 31, 2009 @ 3:09 pm

I'm soooo tired that I crashed till 3pm when I reached back at 7. The flight was disruptive, with a male passenger kept going in and out and I had to get out of my aisle seat for him. :(:(:(:(

Plus the passenger behind me asked me not to recline my seat to the max, hence a very awkward position which resulted in only 1hrs of good sleep. *BAH*

The past 2 weeks have been a very eventful one, with all the catch-ups with friends and family, hoi's wedding and my own preparations, it didn't quite feel like a holiday to me :/ Wished I had more time back home to rest and relax.

On another note, i'm happy that I get to meet most of the people I've planned to meet (quite according to the schedule and checklist I've prepared beforehand) and all the things I've set out to do were done or set in motion (and also something BIG that came as a huge surprise)

Thank God for keeping me going even though I can literally fell asleep many a times outside but He knows that I want to spend more quality time with my family and friends.

Now I can't wait for Dec to come where I'll be back home for Christmas and NY and a very special event in Jan :):):):):):)

out.

i'm back!
Monday, April 13, 2009 @ 11:51 am

thank God for the long Easter break!!

Eug and I managed to steal some time to escape from the city into the tranquil Mt Tamborine for a good weekend of doing NOTHING! hahaa :D

it's our first visit to the mountains but we were attracted to the peace and tranquility of the surroundings and we fell in love with it!

To top it off, we were greeting by our lovely hosts at our luxurious B&B hotel and found ourselves in a tastefully decorated room!

After settling in, we went to Gallery Walk where the famous handicrafts and knicks knacks are sold. Each shop has their unique identity and everything was so pristine and delicate you really want to buy them back home!

And on our way we saw alot of interesting things!

like the mr froggie lazing on the chair; cheeky garden sticks to 'welcome' your guests and a goat made out of recycled metal.

Flowers were blooming too! Got snapshots of different varieties and thanks to the rain, they were more beautiful than usual!
we went to the Witches Cheese and Winery to tour but no one was really doing the wine tasting so we went back after a few photographs.

the next day, we were greeted with sumptuous breakfast prepared by the hosts and it definitely kick start to a better morning ahead~!

We went to the recommended Sunday market but was a little disappointed as the variety wasn't as nice as those at Eumundi.

and we stopped by the national park to admire the vast view below and rain started to pelt down :/

For the rest of the day we were pretty much kept indoors but it was lovely to snuggle up and watch some DVDs. :)

I love such holidays because you really feel like you're completely at rest. :)

Thank God for holidays~~~

Straddies Straddies Straddies!!
Wednesday, December 24, 2008 @ 10:41 pm

All of us went on a short trip to North Stradbroke Island, about 1.5hours off Brisbane via car ferry on 22nd Dec.

The ride was pretty cool coz I haven't drove onto a ferry that transport you to the other island before.

The ferry took us about 45min, so while on board, we all got off the car to enjoy the cool sea breeze and grab some snacks at the cafe upstairs.

And of course, doing stupid things like this:

I was trying to mimic the sign on the ferry!

And Mr Eug is trying to show me his nostrils!!! *wahaha*

Finally, after a long drive and ride on the ferry, we reached the beach where our resort was!

Unfortunately, we arrived too early for the check in so we had to hang around until 2+pm before we finally got our keys to the room!

Luckily I packed some picnic food in my basket which my firm gave all of us for Christmas presents! It came with 4 sets of utensils, table cloths and plastic wine glasses!

Straddies was really scenic and quiet, the perfect place to chill and relax and just take into the wonders of God's creations:

Courtesy of Eug's DSLR

The norther part of the island is only available for tourists to travel as the rest of the island are rainforest and nature reserves which are protected.

So we've been going from Point Lookout (where we stayed) to Amity Point where the other beaches were.

The weather was awesome and we saw alot of surfers trying to do their stunts at the sea. Children were running around building sand castles and families with 4WD pitched their tents near the beach, fully equipped with kitchen and dining area!

We were really amazed at some of the 'houses' we saw at the beach. No wonder almost every Aussie family has a 4WD to travel to places like Straddies for family holidays.

Eug and I went diving the next day too! It's my first dive in Brisbane/Australia, so I really thought my 3mm thick wetsuit is sufficient! But i was SOOO wrong! When i plunged in the waters after a very rough ride out to the dive site, I was practically shivering from hair to toes!~

Plus the current underwater was pretty strong so it was very hard to stabilize myself and get a grip. Most of the time we were drifting away and swimming against the current.

But we did see 3 manta rays that were individually 3m wide and 2 giant turtles! Dive master said that manta rays are in the season now so we came at the right time to dive! :)

Oh not to mention due to the rough boat ride and underwater current, I vomited EVERYTHING I ate since morning :/:/:/ Hate the feeling when your chest feel so tight and you can fee the gush of liquid/semi-solid rushing out your mouth *ewwwwww*

Eug didn't manage to get good underwater shots as well coz he was experimenting with his new lens and coz of the currents, he couldn't get nice ones.

Oh well, there's always more dive next time! Although i personally think tropical waters are for me :P

Pictures galore~~~

Milkboy trying to look like Cowboy *LOL*

Deadman's beach. Hmm, wonder what's with the name~~

Daddy's victorious climb up hill! HAH

My favourite shot of us :)

Wild koala spotted on the tree. Can you see?

The fogeys~

My favourite family shot! Against the deep blue sea and cloudless sky~~

Perched high up the rocks

It's a pity the fogeys aren't interested in sandboarding or 4WD, if not it could've been more fun! Ohwell, my next stop is Fraser's or Moreton! :)

Merry Christmas!!!

Noosa Weekend Getaway
Tuesday, October 07, 2008 @ 7:31 am

We had a blast last weekend!

Planning was made to go for a short weekend trip up to Noosa, Sunshine Coast to have some fun under the sun. So Huixin, MB and I made plans to go during the weekend.
We rented a car, booked a resort and drove up north for 2hours on a Friday night (pitch black roads) and began our 3d2n of FUN! :)

Our hired car. I booked a economy size but they gave us a Renault Megane! Both MB and HX took turns to drive. I'm the lucky passenger! :P
We arrived late on Fri night, with the 'help' of our GPS system but we still got lost finding the resort! Turns out that it was just a couple of blocks away and coz the unit doesn't show up on GPS, we made rounds and rounds before we decided to call the Resort Manager for help! HAH
So we settled in (we're the last guest to check in), took a shower and went to bed pronto.
Next morning, we were greeted by GREAT WEATHER! It was so exciting that the sun was out for us when we decided to take a holiday!

We arrived at Eumundi Market - it's a weekend flea market with fresh produce, clothes, paintings, buskers, accessories and what-nots.
Had we had a hearty breakfast at Chuckles Cafe:

My Chuckles Brekkie - YUMS!

The morning crowd was streaming in after breakfast.

Eumundi Market is a permanent market that is only opened on Tues and Sat morning till early afternoon. Mei (my new Brissy friend) recommended a visit here and we bought quite some stuff!

HX bought a nice blue beach bag which includes a pillow and beach mat for $50 (cheap!) and a tube dress. She wore it to beach later!

I got some wall stickers to decorate my apartment and some small pressies for family and friends :) I loved some of the nice dresses we saw but they were too expensive.

There were loads of buskers around and it was very bustling on a Saturday morning. Love the people and things I see.

There's this interesting old man with his old wooden piano playing some really nice oldies at a corner of the market. I wonder how he carried his piano around when the market closed. There were some blood stains on his shin, which it's probably due to dry weather and he prob didn't have money to get moisturiser or he simply didn't care. HX and I gave him some money for the good music. :)

After we've gotten our shopping loot, it's off to the Macademia Nuts factory and Ginger Factory at Yandina. It's about 20min drive from Eumundi and we got there with the good driving of HX :)

Smells nutty!!~ (think i sort of blended in with the background :P)

It was a rather small factory and the production was not opened over the weekend, so we didn't get to see how macamedia nuts were processed.

We then hopped on opposite to the larger Ginger Factory. They have small little huts retailing merchandises and a mini train track for a tour round the factory.

Touristy shot :D

Touristy shot No. 2 :D:D

The 3 little Gingerbread Men :P

After all the 'gingery' smell we had, it's time to go to the main aim of this trip: THE BEACH!!!! :D

We arrived real early but to find ourselves fighting for parking lots! We took a good 30min circling around and finally got one parking lot within walking distance to the beach.

It was amazing!!!! The sky was bright blue, beach was littered with sunbakers and the waves were so strong!!!

We had to do THIS! it's CLASSIC shot :P

HX and me sunbaking :)

Love this shot of MB and me :P Lovely~

We didn't want to peel ourselves away from the beach but the sun is slowly setting and it's getting chilly so we had to leave for home and dinner.

Dinner was at a lovely Thai restaurant recommended by Mei and we were lucky to make reservations earlier but we still had to wait a good 1hr before our food came and we polished off in another 30min? :S But I must give credits to the quality of the food coz it was really tasty and authentic.

Next day we're off to Underwater World and Australia Zoo!

I must say the Underwater World at Mooloolaba is pretty much the same as that in SG, except it's probably slightly bigger with more marine creatures. But they still have the same 'conveyor belt' thingy for visitors. HAH

The entrance

This is my fave pic! I was pretending to be scared and HX looks like she's blowing some bubbles! HAHA :D

We treated ourselves to nice steak and chicken tenders from Hog's Breath. It was delicious! I think they serve really good steaks around!

Next up, Australia Zoo!
Have heard alot about it especially since Steve Irwin's accident a couple of years ago. It was really hot by the time we reached. We had some good animal shows and walked around some animal enclosures but sadly there were not much pictures taken (guess I was too tired to realise).

And it was time to go home. Another 1.5hr drive (the zoo is 30min away from Sunshine Coast) back home and MB had been craving for fish and chips so he brought us to Hawken Drive just outside his school for some good and affordable fishies!

Cheers to a great trip! More to come! :D
