my bro
Tuesday, October 28, 2008 @ 5:51 AM

Alot of people told me since young that it's so good to have an older brother to look after you, especially those pals of mine who are either the eldest sister or the only child.

I must admit I was yearning for an older sister instead coz it'll be so fun to go out shopping with and sharing those little girly secrets as well.

Obviously u can't do that with a guy (unless he's your boyfriend/husband).

I grew up playing Sega games and Tamiya toy cars; watching He-Man cartoons on the tv; hanging out with his guy friends and being really 'un-girl'. My mum was pretty worried that I would grow out to become un-ladylike (i've proven otherwise :P)

But I enjoy all the times we spent using mattresses as make-shift 'shelters' in our bedroom; playing silly wrestling games and 'suffocating' each other using heaps of pillows. It's fun to be considered as a 'worthy playing mate' at that age.

And slowly as we grow up, there were lesser time spent hanging out as he goes on to make more friends in school and the 4 years af age gap simply caused us to have lesser in common.

But he never fails to use his subtle actions to show he cares.

He buys me presents on my birthdays; he liked me to scratched his back for him; and he liked to sit on my bed and cut his nails and have little chit chats on how I was doing in school/work.

I am always proud of his achievements: the numerous awards he had during school and earning recognition at work for his performance.

He doesn't open up to how he feels and it's pretty weird to be talking to him on a heart-to-heart level. I wish we could've shared more because he has such great influence on my life and because he's my brother.

Gor, I just want to thank you for always looking out for me and protecting me, it makes me really feel blessed and loved. Thank you for being you and thank you for being my brother.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GOR. May you soar to great heights in your life and be happy always. :)

Love, Mei

MB Fried Rice
Monday, October 20, 2008 @ 5:20 PM

This is the fried rice my ah boy cooked this evening for his dinner at home. Alone. :/

Anyway, my boy is very cute. He has been trying to perfect his fried rice so we've tried a couple of times using leftover rice I cook for dinner.

And today he finally did it! :) But too bad I wasn't able to taste it 1st hand. It's like you miss the 1st step your baby take or the 1st word he said. :/

Anyway, he said he'll cook for me again when i'm back home. Loved! :D

2.30am
Friday, October 17, 2008 @ 9:02 AM

That's the time I woke up this morning.

No not by my own self-will but by the stupid fire alarm in our service apartment! -_-"

I was sound asleep when the loud "whop whop, evacuate immediately!" alarm went off. I thought it must have been some prank or what coz seriously it's 2.30am!!!

And then things start to get serious. The alarm didn't want to go off after 30seconds. So i got up from the bed, went out to the balcony trying to see if there are any burning flames/smoke coming up/down my building.

And then I saw some people walking on the streets - it's those late partygoers going home. They don't seemed too concerned about the alarm, plus I couldn't smell anything that's burning.

Still feeling edgy, I opened my front door to see if there's anyone rushing to take the stairs (FYI, i was staying on 27th floor this week) - NOBODY.

I was really determined to back to bed when the alarm in the next tower went off. I thought there must be a fire somewhere, but I'm quite sure it's not my block coz I can't see people evacuating at all.

Then I was thinking to myself, in such a situation, I should get dressed, grab my valuable and start to make my way down OR I could just call Reception and check what's wrong. So I did the latter option but nobody picked up. Hmm the staff are probably busy assessing the situation.

Then I decided to go back to bed coz everything went quiet after 10min.

As I laid down on my bed trying to get to sleep, there's something bugging me: what if there's really a fire and I'll just die on my bed not knowing anything. Oh well, it may be good coz I'll die in my sleep and I can' feel anything (that's IF i'm not burnt alive first! :/)

So I decided to ring the Reception again and this time someone picked it up and they reassured that there's no fire. PHEW!

But I couldn't get back to sleep till much later and it was intermitten till my alarm went off at 7am. -___-

And we were discussing about the false alarm this morning and it's really funny how all of us reacted:
- 1 of the guy envisioned himself in Sep 11 attack where everything crumbled into ashes and he'll be stuck on his bed.
- 1 girl was saying she got dressed and was about to climb down 15 level of stairs
- and me, i'll be happy to die in my sleep o_O

Oh well, it's a little adventure but I definitely don't want to experience such things again! :P thank God I'm still alive :P

It's my dearest Mousemin's birthday today! *pompom*

A very dear friend of mine since Sec 2, we shared laughters and tears together and even though she was away in UK for her studies in the last couple of years, our bond remain strong. (although i didn't visit her in those years! Poor me :/)

Now it's my turn to be in another country, while she's being a smartie teacher in JC, I miss her loads!

I've always been so proud of her because she is full of strength and wisdom in her tiny frame :P And did I mention she's a ballerina? She's so graceful when she's on stage and her passion for dancing really inspires me :)

Happy Birthday my dearest! Love ya loads...

P/S: Birthday greetings going out to other 2 pals: Jieguang and Miaorong (doubt they will see this but nvm :P)

Noosa Weekend Getaway
Tuesday, October 07, 2008 @ 7:31 AM

We had a blast last weekend!

Planning was made to go for a short weekend trip up to Noosa, Sunshine Coast to have some fun under the sun. So Huixin, MB and I made plans to go during the weekend.
We rented a car, booked a resort and drove up north for 2hours on a Friday night (pitch black roads) and began our 3d2n of FUN! :)

Our hired car. I booked a economy size but they gave us a Renault Megane! Both MB and HX took turns to drive. I'm the lucky passenger! :P
We arrived late on Fri night, with the 'help' of our GPS system but we still got lost finding the resort! Turns out that it was just a couple of blocks away and coz the unit doesn't show up on GPS, we made rounds and rounds before we decided to call the Resort Manager for help! HAH
So we settled in (we're the last guest to check in), took a shower and went to bed pronto.
Next morning, we were greeted by GREAT WEATHER! It was so exciting that the sun was out for us when we decided to take a holiday!

We arrived at Eumundi Market - it's a weekend flea market with fresh produce, clothes, paintings, buskers, accessories and what-nots.
Had we had a hearty breakfast at Chuckles Cafe:

My Chuckles Brekkie - YUMS!

The morning crowd was streaming in after breakfast.

Eumundi Market is a permanent market that is only opened on Tues and Sat morning till early afternoon. Mei (my new Brissy friend) recommended a visit here and we bought quite some stuff!

HX bought a nice blue beach bag which includes a pillow and beach mat for $50 (cheap!) and a tube dress. She wore it to beach later!

I got some wall stickers to decorate my apartment and some small pressies for family and friends :) I loved some of the nice dresses we saw but they were too expensive.

There were loads of buskers around and it was very bustling on a Saturday morning. Love the people and things I see.

There's this interesting old man with his old wooden piano playing some really nice oldies at a corner of the market. I wonder how he carried his piano around when the market closed. There were some blood stains on his shin, which it's probably due to dry weather and he prob didn't have money to get moisturiser or he simply didn't care. HX and I gave him some money for the good music. :)

After we've gotten our shopping loot, it's off to the Macademia Nuts factory and Ginger Factory at Yandina. It's about 20min drive from Eumundi and we got there with the good driving of HX :)

Smells nutty!!~ (think i sort of blended in with the background :P)

It was a rather small factory and the production was not opened over the weekend, so we didn't get to see how macamedia nuts were processed.

We then hopped on opposite to the larger Ginger Factory. They have small little huts retailing merchandises and a mini train track for a tour round the factory.

Touristy shot :D

Touristy shot No. 2 :D:D

The 3 little Gingerbread Men :P

After all the 'gingery' smell we had, it's time to go to the main aim of this trip: THE BEACH!!!! :D

We arrived real early but to find ourselves fighting for parking lots! We took a good 30min circling around and finally got one parking lot within walking distance to the beach.

It was amazing!!!! The sky was bright blue, beach was littered with sunbakers and the waves were so strong!!!

We had to do THIS! it's CLASSIC shot :P

HX and me sunbaking :)

Love this shot of MB and me :P Lovely~

We didn't want to peel ourselves away from the beach but the sun is slowly setting and it's getting chilly so we had to leave for home and dinner.

Dinner was at a lovely Thai restaurant recommended by Mei and we were lucky to make reservations earlier but we still had to wait a good 1hr before our food came and we polished off in another 30min? :S But I must give credits to the quality of the food coz it was really tasty and authentic.

Next day we're off to Underwater World and Australia Zoo!

I must say the Underwater World at Mooloolaba is pretty much the same as that in SG, except it's probably slightly bigger with more marine creatures. But they still have the same 'conveyor belt' thingy for visitors. HAH

The entrance

This is my fave pic! I was pretending to be scared and HX looks like she's blowing some bubbles! HAHA :D

We treated ourselves to nice steak and chicken tenders from Hog's Breath. It was delicious! I think they serve really good steaks around!

Next up, Australia Zoo!
Have heard alot about it especially since Steve Irwin's accident a couple of years ago. It was really hot by the time we reached. We had some good animal shows and walked around some animal enclosures but sadly there were not much pictures taken (guess I was too tired to realise).

And it was time to go home. Another 1.5hr drive (the zoo is 30min away from Sunshine Coast) back home and MB had been craving for fish and chips so he brought us to Hawken Drive just outside his school for some good and affordable fishies!

Cheers to a great trip! More to come! :D
