verse of the day

when the sun, moon and stars aligned..
Saturday, July 04, 2009 @ 7:44 pm

4th July is the widely known US Independence Day, but on this day, halfway across the other side of the globe, at the northern tip of NSW, my milkboy finally proposed :):):):):):):)

it was a lovely day to begin with, we had made plans to visit Eug's mummy's puppy which she has bought here (to be shipped to SG when he's 3months' old) to take some pics and play w him before he goes back.

it was a bright and cloudless day and we travelled almost 120km down south to the dog farm at Murwillumbah.

We reached there early and took a walk nearby to take photos of the vast farmland and to the background of the mountains and took heaps of photos! (loved the weather!)

the pine we picked up on the side of the road. What a great prop to use! :P

this is my favourite shot! :P

We had heaps of fun with Kenji. He's such a darling at 8wks old and he's so special because he has a shorter than usual tail and he really looks at u in the eye when u talk to him (as if he understands!) and he'll try to squirm his way out if you hug him too long. TOO CUTE!

doesn't he look ADORABLE????

the family photo :P

we went to Byron Bay after the visit to spend the rest of the day there. Little did I know that the plan has already been set into motion... :):):)

we made a visit to the lighthouse for photo opportunities but it was so crowded even though it was mid-day. the view was great nonetheless and the vast Pacific Ocean was simply breathtaking.

The lighthouse kind of reminded me of the white houses in Santorini, Greece, somewhere that I'd like to go with Eug someday :)

We drove back to the town centre to have a quick shop and rested our feet at Twisted Sistas cafe with a good cup of Chai Latte each and huge rich slice of raspberry cheesecake. YUMS!!

The place was pretty small and quirky town, with boutiques, cafes and restaurants dotting along each side of the road leading to the beach.

There wasn't much else to do and so we thought we'll nest ourselves at the beachside to see the sunset.

Everything was perfect. The sun setting in the west end with the moon already high up on the east. Then I thought about something that Eug said when I'd always ask him when will he propose (very unabashedly :P) "when the sun, moon and stars aligned".

And I thought "hmm, the sun and moon are both up in the skies now but there's no stars yet. maybe it's not now"

We cuddled up till the sky turned dark before we head to the nearby restaurant for fresh grilled catch of the day.

and I thought again "hmm, it's getting late i think we should be heading home after dinner. I guess there shouldn't be anything happening..."

And Eug suggested taking a stroll along the beach. I didn't want to initially because it was freezing outside with the sea wind but I'd thought why not give ourselves some time before the night really ends?

And then I saw the starry skies hanging above our heads and I gaped in awe.

We walked to a part of the beach where there was not many people in sight and Eug suddenly hugged me from behind. Just when i was getting drowsy from the food (i almost fell aslp!), he whipped out his iPhone and asked me to play this video....

I cried buckets when I saw how he painstakingly drew every frame of the video of our story and when the words came out at the end, he took out a pink box from his pocket and asked "Will you marry me?" to which I nodded in between my buckets of tears as he slid the ring into my finger.

I was speechless, just like how he said he'd make me if he propose. It was so silly when I finished crying but I was happy. Really happy :):):):):)

I text-ed everyone on our way home to share the happy news and I couldn't stop starting at the huge bling on my 4th left finger because it has been barren for too long! Now that sparkle will just about brighten up my life everyday from now on :D

P/S: we saw a shooting star on our way home too! God is amazing!! :)

Thank you for everything that you've done, I'm so glad and thankful that we're able to spend the rest of our lives together, knowing how much we love each other and how much we meant to one another. I love you darling...

the weekend without eug
Sunday, May 03, 2009 @ 2:46 pm

and i SURVIVED!! tee hee :D

I thought i'll miss him alot but actually it's not that hard, thanks to my dearest housemate Joanne and other great pals :)

Sat morning we got up real early to send the boys to the airport and had planned to go to DFO for shopping but it was way too early.

So i decided to go to Portside Wharf for some nice breakkie and coffee! The weather was superb, sunny yet cooling - i love having coffee in quaint/cosy coffee shops that just smell so good with all the coffee aroma, chatters of the coffee shop patrons and just sipping a good hot cuppa of nicely brewed latte is enough to keep me going the whole day :)

after our nice toast and coffee, we went to browse the shops and found a nice one which sells candles, pouches, cushions, clothes and other knick knacks! Both of us bought a little pouch and it was really worth it!

then it was yum cha at Landmark with Douglas, Zoe, Christy and her fellow colleague Nigella, an Iranian lady. She has a really cool hairstyle, short and blonde but it totally accentuated her facial features! don't think i can do that coz my face is TOO BIG!

I miss having dim sums and those at Landmark was really good! Their best were the super crusty egg tarts that just made you go "ooh, ahh, umm" about and Nigella ate 4 of them by herself! haha i should buy back home if I can!

After that, i went for facial (needed it before I go back to SG for hoi's wedding!) and i promptly fell asleep when I lie on the bed (not with 15min of agonizing extraction from my blackhead-infested face!!)

View outside my beautician's house
Nice clouds!

By the time we reached home after some grocery shopping, it was almost 6pm and I just spent the rest of the night reading my book and watching DVDs.

So I did it!! I survived a weekend without Eug and I think I can do it till Thurs nite when Andrea and her bf Justin arrives!!

6th and counting~~
Wednesday, April 08, 2009 @ 11:21 pm

it was a simple yet cosy afternoon spent with the dearest.

I guess after been together for so long, simplicity is beauty. no special gifts or fanciful rah-rah because we no longer need to impress each other. it's really the company and quality time that we want from each other.

We decided to go to 3 Monkeys at West End for a nice high tea! the weather was perfect with occasional drizzle. the cafe was crowded with people and it's a pretty hippie place, with ornaments and cultural emblems everywhere.

we got each a big mug of chai latte (yums! my current fave :P) and a plate of hot nachos to share.

You've heard of coffee art, now let us present Chai Art!!!

Using honey as the sweetener we drew different pictures on our mug of chai :)

Love~~~~

our love story
Sunday, April 05, 2009 @ 12:01 am

This was how we looked like when we first know each other. Till now i still can't believe how I would fall for a ah-beng lookalike with floppy hair!! :P But i never regret my choice since.

You were so fit and slim when I met you, someone who was rather shy and did not dare talk to me eye-to-eye. I remembered I had to start up conversations so that it won't feel too awkward.

The first time we met, you bought me a pair of trainer skates and honestly, i was BLOWN AWAY. I mean since when do you receive a present on your first date? And then you taught me how to skate too and that was the first time you held my hands as you guide me on the trainers.

Our first movie was "Just Married" (hmm was it a sign?? :P) and then you held my hands in the cinema for real.

You sent me bouquet of flowers to my part-time work place for our first month together, a photo album and a Giordano sweater (all of which I can't remember where I've chucked them! :x)

and then we took our first 'mini' vacation together - Sentosa :P I can still remember all the uncertainty and unsecurity during the first couple of months of our relationship, but u strongly believe that we're rock solid. It was so heartwarming to hear from you.

and then i suggested we go for a Valentine's Day promotional photo shoot but we didn't even hang up the picture after that! It was my first Valentine's and it was so memorable.

I remembered on my 20th birthday, you gave me my first diamond ring in my life! It wasn't something expensive but knowing that you've scrimped and saved (eating bao for 1 month!!!) really melted me there and then (i'm still wearing it!).

I know you've been into scuba diving when we first knew each other, so instead of leaving you on some weekends while u go underwater to 'hang out' with your fishes, i decided to join you too!

I never felt so good to be holding your hands underwater and admiring your passion for underwater photography - how you have the keenest eye for the smallest fish (and you won 1st prize for an amateur photography competition!) and the most beautiful marine organism.

And then it was our 2nd Valentine's day - honestly i didn't expect we can be together for so long, but we made it.

and we spent birthdays and anniversaries together.

and we finally went on a scuba diving trip to Phuket together! I love those days where we just laze around and spend such quality time with each other. Knowing that both of us love the sun and sea absolutely thrills me :)

and on the diving trip to Dayang with you, i met with a minor near-death experience. It was a night dive and i was feeling jittery but i know you'd want me to go on it with you. As I descended, I saw a sea bed of urchins waiting for me and I panicked and wanted to resurface. Not knowing that my head was near to the motor of the dive boat, i almost got my head cut off! *shudders* and then i went into hyperventilation and was crying and struggling till i couldn't even walk back to the room.

You swept me off and carried me to the bed, with me struggling to breathe and had to rely on a mini oxygen tank. There were tears in your eyes because you thought you had lost me. You kept apologizing for not being able to be with me or rescue me but I told you it was not your fault. That's when I know I can't lose you too.

I remembered it took me very long to persuade you to go on a non-diving holiday for your graduation and you agreed because I suggested Taiwan!

That was the best holiday ever! Just because I love the food and shopping and you got yourself 2 Gundam figurines!! :P

And then you started working and things start to stabilise - work, rest, eat, date. Life seems to be routine yet blessed.

I love how you always challenge me: to be independent, to have my own opinion and stay true to it and most importantly, you made me the person who I am today. Someone who is mature, independent and confident.

and beneath that seemingly indifferent face of yours, you're such a warm and friendly guy. I know you've changed so much for me: chatty, thoughtful and vocal of your thoughts and feelings. If you hadn't realise, you've become the man who leads and guides me in our relationship, my pillar of support.

and you told me you want to further your studies overseas because you want to be able to advance in your career to provide for me in future. I supported your decision and I promised I will follow you wherever you'll go. thank God that you got a full scholarship and I got a job too!

and then we embarked on a new chapter in our lives: relocating to a new country and starting a new phase in our lives together. It can be hard sometimes but your companionship made everything easier and so looking forward to.

Whenever I look back to reminisce the wonderful times we have together, I can't stop thanking God for bringing you into my life, for showing me what love is and for telling me that there is someone out there who will complete me.

Happy 6th Anniversary my darling, I will always love you~~

turning 25
Saturday, March 28, 2009 @ 11:49 pm

Yes, albeit it's hard to key in the two digits that signify the change in age, i'm still glad that I'm now a quarter-century old!! :D

It's been a very special birthday for me this year - being away from my family, away from home and away from my very dear friends.

nonetheless, God has been blessing me with so many friends in my life and the luxury of spending this year's birthday with an added touch of romance *winkz*

Eug brought me (or rather i suggested :P) to this nice seafood place up at Redcliffe bay and because it's autumn now, the sun set really early and by the time we reach at 7pm for our reservation, it was already dark and the sky was threatening.

nonetheless, i was rather excited - my faint heart pumping faster than usual as I drove ourselves there. it has been some time since we went out on a nice date all dressed up and really making a point to make dinner reservations for a nice quiet time together.

The seafood was awesome! we had half a dozen of oysters as entree, then we each ordered moreton bay bugs (or crayfish) and a tapas of salmon, barramundi and scallop. we then had pistachio cheesecake and tiramisu for dessert. by the time we left, we were fully satiated and the rain had reduced to slight drizzle.

wished we can linger around more to the beach but the cold strong winds wouldn't allow us.

It was a really nice time spending with Eug and i can't wait for our Easter get-away trip to Mount Tambourine for spa!!

love!!! xoxoxo

simplicity is beauty

it's our first Valentine's in Brisbane, but we want to do something simple - no dinner at fancy restaurants, no over-priced roses, just the 2 of us and the time spent with each other.

he promised good steak over a glass of wine - and i'm really happy to see the man donning the cute apron and putting so much time, effort and love to whip up our simple dinner. :)

Eug, the master chef in the making *lol*

Awwww~~~~ *melts*

Tadaa!~~

Rump steak with home-made teriyaki sauce, grilled corn cob,
lebanese cucumber, mixed veg and potatoes

You really know that you're very much in love when your man cooks for you :D

Happy Valentine's Day!

our date with 小黑 :P
Wednesday, November 05, 2008 @ 7:06 pm

Most of you guys should've known by now: WE BOUGHT A CAR!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D

It's a 2002 black Honda Jazz, hence the name 小黑 :P it's really a good bargain and the story of how we bought him was amazing!

Jade and Wally (our church friends) brought us to see the car when we saw it put up on sale online. And when we reached the owner's house, HALLELUJAH! it was Jade's church friend!

It was really blessed and must've been God's miracle to get the car because He brought us to one of His people! hehe :D

So MB test driven the car and we were really satisfied so we brought home 小黑 the next day!

As I was out at Gold Coast for the entire week, I hadn't had the chance to really sit in it and go for a ride till Friday for cell, it was really amazing at the thought of FREEDOM!

We've been really living on the 'goodwill' of our dear friends to fetch us around to places but there's a limit to your thick-skinness rite? So i'm so glad we got a car coz that makes travelling so much easier on weekends and also we don't need to wait for people to send us back at night so it makes it more flexible if we want to leave earlier. :):):)

Anyway, we decided to go on a date with 小黑!

My friend, Mei, recommended a really good cafe at West End for breakfast so we went!

the gunshop cafe at 53 mollisons street, west end *thumbs up!*

There was quite a crowd when we reached at about 10am and a small little queue outside the shop. The website had 'warned' us that there might be a 10-minute wait but they will make sure we dont' go away hungry!

We got our seats pretty quick, which is just beside their open kitchen and it's really salivating to see all the yummylicious breakkies being served!!

some 'narcissistic' shot of meself before our food come :P

MB being cheeky *pinch face*

I love M.I.L.K!!

Before long, our much-awaited breakie arrived!!! *salivate*

strawberry stuffed french toast | vanilla ricotta | hazelnut crumble | berry coulis

double smoked bacon | poached eggs | tomato | herbed hollandaise | toasted turkish

ABSOLUTELY DELISH!!! *lip smacking* Our coffee was wonderful as well! It was really great having nice brunch, in a cosy but busy cafe and with my love! We agreed to have a official date outing on every 1st weekend of the month! More food hunting! :)

After the satiated meal, we adjourned to Chermside Shopping centre up north and it was HUUUGE!

We only walked half the shops after 2.5hours and my legs couldn't take it anymore! :S But we'll definitely go back again to check out the half of the mall! heh

Love us+time! *bliss*
