verse of the day

last day as an auditor
Wednesday, July 30, 2008 @ 10:52 pm

Finally, the DAY has arrived.

The heart felt a wee bit lighter as I went for work this morning.

The day went as usual, the people were as busy. My TIC kept asking me how I feel to be the last working day today. I replied "I don't know".

Somehow or rather, I'd say it's mixed feelings. Feelings of elation, relief, melancholy, forlorn and many more.

I am glad that I managed to stick it out to the very last day (although I fell ill on Mon :/) and I really gave my best and last shot as what TY told me to. I have no regrets.

The team was very nice to get me a jacket from adidas as farewell present!

And then we took some photos before I really leave (for good):

Our messy audit room!
L-R: Audrua, Me and Zhe Xuan (who was really on the phone!)

Food for the hungrrrrry SOUL

The team (with Sharon, the manager on left)

It was a long job and far place to work but I still managed to suck it up and survived! Thank GOD!

I'm really thankful that I have really helpful managers and seniors who are always on the ball to help and guide and make me really comfortable to work.

I guess it's a beautiful ending isn't it ;)

a series of fortunate events followed by an unfortunate one
Monday, July 28, 2008 @ 1:52 pm

forgive my crappy title for this entry, but i duno wat else i can think of :P

weekend started out GREAT with a free buffet dinner treated by job manager at the super high class and expensive Ritz Carlton's Greenhouse cafe.

We were so excited when we saw the wide variety of seafood, chinese and indian food, and desserts!

We attacked the most expensive ones first: Oysters! Lobsters! Sashimi! But I can't beat the 2 others who each ate about a dozen each of oysters! *faintz* And the oysters were really fresh as it slids down the throat comfortably with a dash of lemon and tabasco (the unfortunate event happened later :/)

We ate and chatted (all 9 of us) until the cafe closes at 1030pm and adjourned to Harry's for drink, on the house by my TIC :D

But wrong move, the bottle she opened was real hard liquor (40%), but even if I only drank 1 1/4 cups (mixed heavily with Coke), I still puked out half an oyster and loads of liquids. Ewwwww :/

Zonked out at almost 3am and woke up at around 9 to meet Andrea for some shopping before meeting the rest. But turns out that most the girls still had some work to clear so it wasn't a full squad till the actual Slumber Party at night.

Nonetheless, had a fun time shopping with Drea and it was very sweet of her to sponsor me half of a Thomas Sabo charm!

Had always wanted to get one but thought it was rather expensive.
thanks again to my dear Andrea!

Welcome to the Thomas Sabo club!! :P

After lunch at Thai Express, we decided to go back to town to see Drea's A|X dress (which is freaking exp!!) and had fun time camwhoring at the toys department! Love being a child, you get to have so many toys!

Saturday felt as if my girlfriends were on shifts:
morning shift - Andrea and Melissa
noon shift - Theresa and Xianpei
night shift - theresa, xianpei, meiyan, melissa and lala

*LOL* I was the permanent installation for the day, coz I was the only one who stayed throughout :D

And so after the morning shift, the noon shift people came and took over! *wahaha*

The two girls even wore identical tops and shoes! They're really doing their duty on their noon shift! *wahahaha* :P

Theresa managed to get a pair of Levi's jeans with Singfest ticket (i wanna go too!) and after which, we rested our feet at TCC @ Centrepoint.

Finally made our way to Cold Storage to buy ingredients to cook for dinner and fruit salad and by the time we had dinner, it was 9pm already!

Finally made our way back...

While we waited for the great Chef XP to whip up delicious Aglio Olio for dinner, me and Theresa did these:

Attempt to play the piano

Spy on the great chef at work

VOILA! Her version of Aglio Olio was reallly tasty!! Good job!!

The night shift peeps were in time to satisfy their tastebuds and there was yummy durians waiting for us!!! *burp*

XP showed us the dainty way to eat durian with a spoon!

And how can we don't take some silly bedroom photos! The theme was Baby so I prepared bibs and pacifiers for the peeps! we all had such great fun being babies and laughing out heads off! haha

The classis "head-to-head" photo

And another group one!

Too bad hOi didn't manage to join us coz the bride-to-be was busy with her wedding plans.

Nonetheless, it was really great fun out with my dearest pals and so many photos as memories. When I miss home and my friends, these will be the pictures that I will treasure the most. :)

So the unfortunate event thus far was that I was feverish the whole of Sunday and doc said I got stomach flu viral infection, which explains my weak limbs, fever, nausea and body aches :S:S:S

I still managed to pack my luggage and a box of clothes (which practically the whole of my wardrobe) with the help of dearest couzzie who patiently helped me to roll each and every piece of clothing neatly.

I am so thankful for all my dearest, who shared so many of my memories, be it happy or sad and are always there for me when I needed them most.

Although our paths will be diverted temporary for now, our friendship will continue to be strong because we will always be there for each other.

I love you all very very much. :*)

getting into SHAPE!
Sunday, July 20, 2008 @ 1:12 pm

Pulled myself out of bed at 6am this morning for Shape Run 2008!!

It's the last jogging event for me in SG and with my buddy, Theresa!!

We were late (they flagged off the 10km girls alr :S) and had to squeeze our way through the crowd to get in the start but there was performance so we had to wait for the 2nd flag off of 5km before we start runnning.

It was a really long, long, long journey. I've never ran 10km in my LIFE and here I am, torturing myself through all this??? And i didn't really train up for it too! :/

It's' all in the MIND, TY said, and I really pushed myself hard, with all the thumping songs bursting in my ears, but the turning point at Marina South seemed so near yet so far.....

I stopped to brisk walk 3 times (found out was faster than if I had tried to jog slowly) and finally, the last stretch down Shenton Way, I made full effort to run non-stop and VOILA! I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *woohoo*

And when I saw my dearest MB (who was so sweet to come support me at 7+am in the morning and waited till it was over), I broke down and cried uncontrollaby. I guess they were tears of joy and relief that I finally finished the 10km and all the mental, emotional and physical aspect just tripled the effect caused me to burst into tears. The last time i cried was when we skated for 3 hours at the new ECP Park Connector. I can still feel the heat :/

Nonetheless, it was no mean's feat and I really did it! Am so proud of myself that I persevered to the end. There were so many times I felt I was collapsing and thinking of taking detour or just faint there, so that paramedics will carry me away in comfort. But I hanged on coz I know if the rest can do it, why can't I? Anything that doesn't hit me down, will make me STRONGER. *rahhhh*

As TY was in a rush, we din get to sit down and haf breakfast together and i realised i missed her so much!!! Havent' seen her for 2wks and I really missed her loads :/And all those times, when she, me and hOi were keeping each other updated everyday via sms or calls, I'm missing out :(:(:

Girls, must include me in all your everyday lives updates k? I will be happy to share everything! :P

JC gathering
Sunday, July 13, 2008 @ 8:46 pm

Haven seen many of them in person except updates via Facebook. (wonders of technology) So it was a pleasant surprise to see many of them, and I guess I will only be seeing some of them when I come back for holidays next year.

It was a good turnout of 14 people, with a handful overseas, and the rest MIA :P But I conclude, all of them are still the bunch of people I hanged out and have classes with 7 years ago... (omg, so long already!!)

Dinner-ed at Waraku Pasta, hOi got mistaken for the Waraku on 3rd and we ended up at the Pasta branch instead. Won't say it's nice, but it's not that nice either :P

It was real early when we finished (the service there were like fast food outlet or sth) so we decided to go KTV at Chinatown. (2nd one in 2 wks, and one more for my farewell :P)

It was nice singing with the folks, but honestly, I would much prefer to sing with my girlfriends or the PwC gang coz it's more FUN! :P Half the peeps left before 11am to catch the train and I suddenly realised that when I was out with the office people, we always sang till they shut off our screens and we shared cabs home. So spoilt! :P

And I shared hOi's jacket's sleeve with her coz it was so cold there! We had a good laugh coz I always shared her sleeve back in JC coz I'd always forget to bring mine and the lecture halls get cold sometimes. (Actually, I like to share with her coz it makes me feel warm and comforted :P)

Our “断袖”之恋 *muahahaha*

Nonetheless, it was nice catching up with some of the girls whom I seldom meet but we chatted like old friends.

a journey through the pages
Monday, July 07, 2008 @ 10:51 pm

I just visited Cambodia in a span of 3 hours :P

Haha, what I meant was I was very honoured to read TY's journal of her Cambodia trip in early June.

As I was early to meet MB, I plonked myself down at MOS, with a cup of ice milk tea and began flipping through the pages of superbly neat words and very detailed account of her 12 day Cambodia journey.

I'm really amazed at how one can vividly recount the details of her road trip each day: What they ate for breakfast/lunch/dinner and the cost of each meal, the names of those cafes/restaurants she visited and how was the food/service quality; the places they went, the Tuk Tuk rides and how much it cost. It was so detailed that I can really pictured the very scenario of her and her travel mate, bargaining prices with the Tuk Tuk driver *LOL*

I laughed at some pages when I can totally imagine her saying those things to me right in my face.

I'm touched at how she remembers things, her personal experience when she visited the Killing Fields, the paintings she bought from those street children and those real cheap and good buys she got along the way.

I even felt like vomiting as I sipped my milk tea when I read her account of her 'da bian' incident in one of the guesthouses! (go ask TY wat happened, it's too gross to recount here ;P)

TY is a girl that is so meticulous and very true to her heart and I feel so blessed to have known a great pal like her.

And when I saw that she took pictures of flags, especially those of USA coz she said she will be going soon (our original plan to go in Sept), I felt a tinge of sadness suddenly.

How I wish I can embark on the US road trip with her. I'm very sure we will be writing notebooks of stuff during planning and the trip itself, taking loads of photos and just enjoying each other's company. How I miss...... :(

I guess like what she said before "but if we lived each moment, then we have no regrets... cos we will see how each person, each interaction, each experience has enriched our lives".

I thank God for her and all my other girlfriends. Without them, I guess I will never be what I am today.

Bliss. :D

st nicks galpals
Sunday, July 06, 2008 @ 10:33 pm

Finally met up in full force (minus Jiesi who's still in china :/) and we had a great time!!

Had lunch at thai express at J8 and as usual, our dear Winne was LATE for 1 hour again. *sheesh*

1 budding entrepreneur, 1 PhD student, 1 policewoman and 1 Accountant
What a odd combo! ;P

Anyway, it was great to see all of them, catching up with each other on our lives. Both Sujun and Winne will be going away to US for a conference, so I guess I won't see them anytime soon before I fly :/

It's amazing how our friendship remains so strong despite most of us leading vastly different lifestyles, having different occupations, and yet we are still very close knitted. I guess it's the St. Nicks spirit ba. I always think that girlfriends you've made during ur sec sch years are the one that will really last you throughout your life, and it's really true.

How I miss those days, when all we worry about was school work and nothing else. Now our topics are careers, marriage and kids! *blimey* How we've all aged. *lol*

After lunch, Winne suggested hanging out longer since they won't be able to see me for some time, so we adjourned to our ALL TIME favourite activity: KTV session!!! *wahahaha*

We walked to the Partyworld KTV at Bishan's NTUC but it was close?? Weird... mebbe sth happened.

So we decided to catch a cab to AMK Mac's for KBox! We're really desperate man...hahah :D

We managed to get K Student package (think we looked real young :P) and it was $17.50 nett for 1 tapas, 1 mixed nuts/fruits and free flow of coke/sprite! So shiok!!!

And we began to sing and sing and sing and sing...........until we were so tired that we almost fell asleep halfway!!! *sheesh*

Both Winne and Leng Lee are really KTV-deprived coz they jus kept singing non-stop!! Haha both have real good voices and it was a real treat to our ears! Thanks girls! :D

This is the 10th year of our frienship, and although all of us have changed drastically (in terms of looks especially), our frienship remains strong no matter where we are and how we have changed and I'm so thankful for the dear friends that I have, seeing me through all the 10 years of growing up phase. Thankful for them that I still remain true to my heart :)

Dear girls, let's commemorate our 20 years of frienship 10 years later! We shall plan something big, like some kind of road trip or something shall we? ;) It'll really be awesome :P

Saturday, July 05, 2008 @ 11:58 am

Has been surfing loads of wedding-related websites to help my darling hOi aka our bride-to-be to provide some ideas for her grand day!

Thanks to Andrea, we managed to find some really nice websites with beautiful pictures and inspirations!

This is so SATC-ish! Mebbe the bridesmaids can wear this :P

Sparrows on the wedding cakes which symbolizes "比翼双飞”

I love the dress on the left! Look at the long train!!!!
Themed wedding decorations:

I love the use of Turquoise against white background. Simple and classy.

Ideas for wedding photos. I personally feels that you don't have to be at somewhere expensive to take nice wedding photos. Sometimes, just that glance, that smile is already picture perfect :)

Some more beautiful pictures from Snippet And Ink:

And not forgetting, my dearest couzzie Tif who got engaged too!!!

Ahhhhh... the season of love :)

Hey folks!

As you know I'll be leaving pretty soon, I have some stuff on hand to give/sell!

It's a greyish dwarf hamster, about 3 inch in size. It's very easy to maintain, all u nid is to clean and feed it every now and then and play with it!

Interested ppl kindly tag me or pass around the word! thankxxxxx

2) Browhaus Brow Tweezing package (8 visits left)

I'd bought their tweezing package some time back and now am left with 8 more visits before it expires next Sept. I won't have chance to finish up all 8 visits, so is anyone interested in taking it over?

I'm willing to sell away at $8/visit = $64 for the package. Original price I paid was $15 per visit :)

PJ Party with sHu's girls
Thursday, July 03, 2008 @ 9:17 pm

This entry is super outdated coz I only got hold of the pictures from andrea today!

The girls met up on one Friday night in May for a sleepover party at andrea's house. It was really fun hanging out together and I'm so gonna miss it! (Part II of PJ Party coming up!! *excitedness*)

sHu's favourite girls!

Dinner was at the famous prata shop at River Valley, which was a 10min walk from andrea's house and look at the amount of food we ordered!! We didn't have enough space to put our food and had to use a chair even! *lol*

Am so gonna miss prata and curry :/:/

After which, we strolled to Great World for movie "What Happens in Vegas".

A passerby (actually he was in his car) saw us trying to take a group pic and came out from his car to help us! So nice!!!

We just couldn't resist taking this shot. It's classic. *grins*

And our Best Homemaker All Time aka Andrea made us real healthy fruit salad for supper! Great way to wash away all the oily pratas and mee gorengs we had before that :P

A must-thing to do on your Girly Sleepover list is to do facials with all ur gal pals! Check out our classic "Phantom of the Opera' faces!! *ROTFL*

And before we knew it, TY and hOi were playing on the bed *hmmm* and then hOi decided to roll onto TY and thus the following position! I was too embarassed to even look at them!! :D:D

Now one decent shot girls :P (Lala din join us coz she said she'll wake us up!)

How can we NOT camwhore on a girlies night out??? Check out the hilarious photos we took!!

Our dearest Andrea got up real early (we only slept like 3+am coz we were busy talking) to cook a sumptuous breakfast for us! Even Lala woke up early and left her house to have breakfast!

Check out the yummylicious breakfast! Golden buttery toast, sausages, ham scrambled eggs and garlic sauteed mushrooms. And there was also a bowl of yoghurt oats! *salivating*

If there was any Best Homemaker award, i'll definitely nominate Andrea!! She's really one good homemaker, her bf is so xinfu!! :D

It was really a great night hanging out, taking loads of photos to capture those memories that we will remember so fondly years later and spending that quality time with each other, knowing that one day when we look back, we will gush about those crazy times we had, and the close knit friendship we shared.

Love my girls! :*)
