Chronicles of CNY: 2nd day
Tuesday, January 31, 2006 @ 10:21 am

had so much fun ystd!! :P

was out visiting with Jie Si to the Aunties' houses ystd afternoon. I got to know her mum's frens (the aunties) on a trip with them to Korea in 2002. They're really a nice bunch of people!! and the kids are about my age and the youngest was already 9!

Watched them play mahjong but I still don't really know how to play!! :P haha looks like i'm not really into 'gambling' hahah ;)

we later adjourned to another Auntie's house in Yio Chu Kang and Jie Si had intended to continue with mahjong but the aunties suggested we play pictionary instead. Wah we had so much fun!!! I was a team with Jie Si and her sister, Jie Xian and we were winning all the way initially!! but the boys caught up with us after that, BUT we still won eventually! :P you should see the speed we were guessing!! as soon as Jie Xian drew like a circle and stuff, we were able to guessed it already!!! haha I like Pictionary coz it's always so fun to see ppl drawing desperately for us to guess! and all the laughter and farni 'stunts' we came out... haha :)

My parents and Kor came to fetch me after that to go to my Aunt's house in Choa Chu Kang. Most of my relatives were already there when we reached. My cousins still look the same from last year but 2 of my cousins are getting married this year! but only one of them will be holding a wedding dinner in May. One of my cousin bought their new flat opp ours!! haha this is the first time we'll be having relative staying so near to us :P

As usual, we watched tv again.. nothing much to chat about too other than the usuals like how r you? what are you doing now? etc etc... Fortunately after most of my cousins went back already, my niece and nephew had 'warmed up' to me and we started playing hide-n-seek and catching!! They were so adorable!! hahah I love kids man, they always say the darndest things!! Following are some excerpts:

Niece: Auntie, how come ur eyes green green one? like grass lidat? (pointing to my eyeshadow)
Me: Oh, because I want to look pretty ma. Next time, u ask your mummy help u put 'grass' on ur eyes also ok?

Nephew: Auntie, you have BIG pretty eyes. (staring straight into my eyes)

As u can see, they're really eloquent ;P but they really haf grown quite abit since the last time i went to their house to stay over. It's really nice to play with kids man, makes u feel young again (altho i'm not that old yet) I even taught them to 'yum seng' with our orange juice! And the boy kept asking me about my accessories like my purple earring and black pearl necklace. Then he saw that i drew my brows, he said he also want!!! -_-"

It was great night with good food and playing with my niece and nephew. Before we left, they kept saying they wan to come my house!!!

oh.. i heart kids. :)

Chronicles of CNY: Eve
Sunday, January 29, 2006 @ 9:28 am

hey guys!!

how was your 團圓飯?hope it's real good!! :P heard alot of my pals are having steamboat for dinner!! haha ;) it's the thought that everyone in the family sitting down together to have dinner that's meaningful rite?

had mine at this Hakka restaurant place at Balestier Road. Mum saw the food review from newspaper and suggested we shd go try it for our TYF (ben used this as short form for reunion dinner :P).

but there was a small episode during the dinner. You see, the boss who had confirmed with me for my reservation didn't write it down in their book so when we arrive, they kept saying they dun haf anyone coming for dinner at 7pm. Of course I'd argued coz i remembered clearly that the person on the phone even asked for my name and hp no.

but in the end we still haf food to eat lar... but Dad and Mum were complaining that the food was sub-standard. They anyhow cook and serve the dishes. Plus the $88 set dinner we ordered was nothing much of a hoo-ha. Had expected some signature dishes like 紅槽雞,梅菜扣肉,燜豬腳 and such.. but there wasn't any. The dishes were so common looking and no signs of 'special effort' was put in to quantify for the $88 we're paying.

When the bill came, we realised even 4 bowls of white rice wasn't included in the package!!! -_-" damn sianz lar, but luckily after that we quickly forgot abt the dinner as we walked along the S'pore River :)

Dad and Mum by the river side...

Mum choosing some pottery plates..

Pretty Me!!! (daddy din take in the Esplanade 'durian' in the pic coz he said take liao den i'll look like durian?? -_-")

Actually there wasn't much to see at the River Hong Bao. It was a much smaller scale as compared to the previous years. Most of the ppl were the non-Chinese Singaporeans or foreign tourists. Mum said that prob coz it was still early (we reached there ard 8+, 9pm) and ppl were still prob having their reunion dinner.

We walked around the Singapore River taking photos. Was trying to practise some night photography with my digi cam, but i think to be able to take really nice shots (like those on Edwin's blog) nid those really good and expensive pro-consumer cameras (or mebbe like MB's Olympus DSLR). Then again, I'm just those point-and-shoot trigger happy kinds, as long got me pretty pretty in the photo can liao.. hahah :D

Speaking of which, i took the nicest photo of Dad!!

Don't he look like some 笑面佛 or something?? hahah :P

And me again!!! Dun I look nice?? hahah :P (oops! too bhb liao) I shud really get down to slimming den I prob can look prettier!! *obsessed freak*

After walking around looking for nice chill out place to sit down and listen to music, we spotted this cool night spot opp Clarke Quay. It was IndoChine at Empress Place, jus beside the ACM. The place was pretty cool just like their other establishment at Wisma Atria. It has nice couches in the centre, seats by the river, live band and cool night breeze. There were lotsa ang-mohs and I tink it's a real nice chill-out place. Shall come again with my pals next time..

Ordered an Apple Martini for Mum, 1/2 pint Erdinger for Dad and Me, a Corona.

sensual mummy daddy in thoughts r u drunk

Nice jazz music, nice company and nice drink. We went back home feeling totally satiated. :)

Happy Chinese New Year Folks!! May the Dog Year be a good one that brings you good health, fortune and good wishes!! 恭喜發財!:D

fave songs of the moment....
Thursday, January 26, 2006 @ 6:18 pm

been downloading some really nice pop/alternative rock songs recently and koping some from Ben... got really nice songs that I've been playing on the 'repeat' mode again and again on my iPod. Here's some to share w you guys:

1. Best Song when you're Down and Out

Meant To Live - Switchfoot

Fumbling his confidence
And wondering why the world has passed him by
Hoping that he's bid for more than arguments
And failed attempts to fly, fly
[Chorus]
We were meant to live for so much more
Have we lost ourselves?
Somewhere we live inside
Somewhere we live inside
We were meant to live for so much more
Have we lost ourselves?
Somewhere we live inside

Dreaming about Providence
And whether mice or men have second tries
Maybe we've been livin with our eyes half open
Maybe we're bent and broken, broken

[Chorus]
We want more than this world's got to offer
We want more than this world's got to offer
We want more than the wars of our fathers
And everything inside screams for second life, yeah
We were meant to live for so much more
Have we lost ourselves?
We were meant to live for so much more
Have we lost ourselves?
We were meant to live for so much more
Have we lost ourselves?
We were meant to live
We were meant to live

2. Most playable track when you're driving

Drive - Incubus

Sometimes I feel the fear of uncertainty stinging clear
And I cant help but ask myself how much I'll let the fear take the wheel and steer
It's driven me before, it seems to have a vague
Haunting mass appeal
Lately I'm beginning to find that I should be the one behind the wheel

Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
With open arms and open eyes yeah
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there, I'll be there

So if I decide to waiver my chance to be one of the hive
Will I choose water over wine and hold my own and drive, oh oh
It's driven me before, it seems to be the way
That everyone else get around
Lately, I'm beginning to find that when I drive myself, my light is found

Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
With open arms and open eyes yeah
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there, I'll be there
Would you choose water over wine
Hold the wheel and drive
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
With open arms and open eyes yeah
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there, I'll be there

3. Best Song to Play when you're Going Abroad for a Long period of time

Save Tonight - Eagle Eye Cherry

Go on and close the curtains
All we need is candlelight
You and me and a bottle of wine
Going to hold you tonight
We know I'm going away
How I wish....wish it weren't so
Take this wine & drink with me
Let's delay our misery

Save tonight
And fight the break of dawn
Come tomorrow
Tomorrow I'll be gone

There's a log on the fire
And it burns like me for you
Tomorrow comes with one desire
To take me away....it's true
It ain't easy to say goodbye
Darling please don't start cry
'Cause girl you know I've got to go
Lord I wish it wasn't so

Save tonight
And fight the break of dawn
Come tomorrow
Tomorrow I'll be gone
Tomorrow comes to take me away
I wish that I......that I could stay
Girl you know I've got to go
Lord I wish it wasn't so

Save tonight
And fight the break of dawn
Come tomorrow
Tomorrow I'll be gone....

4. Best Song to Hear when It's Pouring like Crazy

Rain - Breaking Benjamin

Take a photograph,
It'll be the last,
Not a dollar or a crowd could ever keep me here,
I don't have a past I just have a chance,
Not a family or honest plea remains to say,

Rain rain go away,
Come again another day,
All the world is waiting for the sun.

Is it you I want,
Or just the notion
Of a heart to wrap around so I can find my way around
Safe to say from here,
Your getting closer now,
We are never sad cause we are not allowed to be
Rain rain go away,
Come again another day,
All the world is waiting for the sun.

Rain rain go away,
Come again another day,
All the world is waiting for the sun.
To lie here under you,
Is all that I could ever do,
To lie here under you is all,
To lie here under you is all that i could ever do,
To lie here under you is all,

Rain rain go away,
Come again another day,
All the world is waiting for the sun.
Rain rain go away,
Come again another day,
All the world is waiting for the sun,
All the world is waiting for the sun,
All the world is waiting for the sun.

5. All Time Best Song - No Reason, Just Play It

Angels or Devils - Dishwalla

this is the last time
that I'm ever gonna come here tonight
this is the last time - I will fall
into a place that fails us all - inside

I can see the pain in you
I can see the love in you
but fighting all the demons will take time
it will take time

the angels they burn inside for us
are we ever are we ever gonna learn to fly
the devils they burn inside of us
are we ever gonna come back down come around
I'm always gonna worry about the things that could make us cold

this is the last time
that I'm ever gonna give in tonight
are there angels or devils crawling here?
I just want to know what blurs and what is clear - to see

still I can see the pain in you
and I can see the love in you
and fighting all the demons will take time
it will take time

the angels they burn inside for us
are we ever are we ever gonna learn to fly
the devils they burn inside of us
are we ever gonna come back down - come around
I'm always gonna worry about the things that could break us

if I was to give in - give it up- and then
take a breath - make it deep
cause it might be the last one you get
be the last one that could make us cold
you know that they could make us cold
I'm always gonna worry about the things that could make us cold

a little prayer....
Wednesday, January 25, 2006 @ 10:27 pm

"Dear Lord
Thank you for everything that you've done for me
I know you're always there
I hope you'll continue to give me guidance
in my everyday life
In whatever I do, I may always find peace with myself
And I will take things as they come
Lord, I ask that you show me the light when
I'm clouded with darkeness and confusion
That You may just lay Your hands on my head
And comfort me, telling me everything will be okay
Lord, i ask that on the coming Friday
You will continue to give me guidance and reassurance
Just like what You have done since i met You
I ask that You grant me the strength and alertness
Calm mind and confidence
That I may overcome all obstacles and finally
enjoy the fruits of my labor.
All this I ask through Jesus' name,
Amen"

updates...
Monday, January 23, 2006 @ 2:44 pm

hi peeps!!!!~~

been some time since i've updated my blog cept for my random ramblings... :P

anyway, i had a great week!!

FYP is going in good progress... and our dear Ed had even charted a graph on Efficiency and Effectiveness on his blog!!! hahaha but i'm glad things are picking up and we're really concentrating on doing our stuffs!!!

a first draft is coming out and should be able to let our tutor read it over the CNY weekend (haha we very evil, dun let him enjoy his CNY.. but i doubt he'll actually read it during the long weekend man... :P)

actually i looove school!! i get to see my pals and be doing things.. altho it gets tiring from travelling up and down but I love it when I could jus go out after class in the afternoon and such.. i can't poss do that when i start working rite? Ben was still saying he can't wait to get out of school, but I beg to differ. I think this will be the last time that I can be in the frequent company of my pals and hang out with them and of course, slightly cheaper food as compared to outside.

watched Memoirs of A Geisha on Fri with MB. I think the story was rather simple but I love the way Zhang Ziyi learnt her way to become a Geisha and stuff. And Gong Li was really good in the show!! Really cunning and venomous because of jealousy for Sayuri. Michelle Yeoh was ok in the show, nothing much for her to act also coz her role was jus those goody-two-shoes kind... And altho Ken Watanabe was quite handsome, i think he and Sayuri being in love together was jus somehow weird to me.. imagine he alr liked her when she was still a little girl!! kewl..

weekend evenings were spent on revision drives. I like my new instructor, Mrs Tay coz she's q farni and she'd really let me practise on my weak areas until she felt that i'm more confident already. But it was helluva weather for the past few days, raining like mad and everywhere is so wet and traffic is slow. but still, i think i'm more confident after the weekly drives... hope i can really pass this time round! :)

Went shopping at Giant IMM on Sat evening w my parents.. My was there a long queue at every counter!!! People were jostling around shopping for necessities and of course CNY goodies. Giant's stuff are rather cheap and I guess they are the ones who brought in the customers to IMM. We'd gotten a trolley full of food, tidbits and I bot half a carton of Heineken beer! :P I wanted to buy the 4bottles pack one but Dad was saying that Kor's frens may be visiting as well so we should buy more jus in case.. :P

oh and i'm inviting you guys to come my house on 初一,29th Jan, Sunday!! My mum's side relatives will be coming so we'll be having a potluck feast!!! As usual, my kor's frens will always come so I'd tot, why not u guys come and join me as well!! heh :P anyone who's keen to come, do sms me yah?

ok gtg do my tutorials liao... kinda slacked after finishing off FYP draft...heh :P

cheers,
sHu

Saturday, January 14, 2006 @ 5:41 pm

had a slight headache on-off the whole day... wonder wat's wrong... :/

boring day spent researching for FYP... loads of stuff to do and it seemed like never-ending.. Beginning to regret not starting to do more stuff last year.. but nonetheless, i noe me and my fyp-mates can do it!

++++++++

suppose to meet up with my parents to go Ikea coz Kor dun nid to use the car today.
They're suppose to call me after they went Chinatown so I waited and waited... until i fell asleep coz i was too tired.

Called them jus now den Mummy told me they just reached Chinatown like half n hour's ago so they're not going to Ikea liao.

Dammit. Never tell me earlier that they dun plan to go liao... I told them I dun wan to go Chinatown coz it'll be very crowded and I really need to get stuff from Ikea for CNY.

Mum said we can go tomorrow, but I dun feel like going tomorrow coz I still haf work to do.

I'm hungry.

happy mood!
Friday, January 13, 2006 @ 10:41 am

YEAH!!! it's so great to wake up with bright sun shining on my ass face!!!

now i can truly understand how the weather can really affect one's mood for the day!! God answered my prayers for having at least ONE sunny FULL day!! (er mabbe too early to judge, but I'm quite sure today will be a beautiful one!! ;P)

and my pay from the internship last year is FINALLY here!!! haha took them like wat, 12 days before they bank in my money?? Speaking of efficiency man.. guess when u're no longer working there, they tend to be 'more cautious' when they gif u your pay?? hmm...

anyway, shall piah finish my Strat Mgmt today (readings + tut) so thtat i can spend the whole weekend finishing up at least 50% of my part for FYP!!! *roars!!~*

everything is starting to fall into pieces as the days pass by... but I realised one bad thing abt this sem, is that we actually won't be having a mid-term break this time due to one of the mod, Political Economy of East Asia, that i'm taking.

In order to haf the whole cohort sitting for the lecture, Grp A students hafta accomodate the Grp B students because they're only ending their internship today. Sch will only be starting in the coming Mon for them, so means the schedule for the module will be pushed back 2 weeks later... So technically speaking, while we're supposedly be having our mid-term break on the 8th week, we still haf classes for Political Economy..

not a v big issue i guess since most of us would still need to come back for FYP discussions and stuff... but i think our sch is really kinda screwed up in this aspect. It wouldn't be so bad, hadn't the school sudd change the Dec holidays to only 5 weeks instead of the usual 6/7 weeks. Poor hoi, geok, shan and my other Grp B frens, seems like they're juggling alot of things in this very short semester and their exams only finish 2 weeks later than us!!! haizz...

But oh well, it's another 3+ months before i finally say bye-bye to NTU and my fellow Uni mates... I shall treasure watever time i haf left: like using comp at FAL, eating at Can 3/A/2, using the Reading Room @ South Spine as napping place, buying cheaper stuff @ Popular, free transport (aka feeder bus) and most impt of all, my gd frens that I've known since Year 1...

it's gonna be a diff world out there once we step out of school... *ponders*

but for now, shall jus concentrate on my studies and complete this semester with flying colours!!!! :P

dreadful weather....
Thursday, January 12, 2006 @ 10:42 pm

something must be wrong with the weather nowadays.. it has been raining on-off since last year (last few days of Dec 05) right until early Jan. When will it ever stop and let the sun come out for at least one FULL day??

i like rainy days but not so RAINY u noe? it's getting gloomy and weary. Every morning when i picked myself up from my beauty sleep and it's raining/drizzling, I really had the urge to plunge back to my soft pillow and continue to sleep. But i can't coz I'll be late for sch and I dun like to be late.

this kind of weather is just so depressing... i tot only UK has such greyish and gloomy kind of weather. but i guess the whole world is changing.

maybe the hole in the ozone layer got bigger and bigger and the whole climate around the world is changing to a crazy shiat. :/

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

met up with our fyp tutor today. there are both good and bad news.

Good news - we found a clear direction amidst the pile of stuff that were 'clouding' around us. thank God and thanks to Prof Choo!

Bad news - he subtlely emphasized that he dun wan us to give him our detailed draft towards the later part of the semester when the deadline is almost up. he mentioned that he was rather worried when he saw the brief structure we gave him (btw, that was done q long ago and also to sort of 'please' him so that he at least haf sth to read :P). I can safely say, my fyp mates and I have really worked hard to gather loads of information. But of course, much is to be done wrt analysis and our contribution towards the project. Fire up guys!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

after sch, met up with MB and we went to Arab Street to check out some of the unique shops that i've read about on newspapers. But to our dismay, it was raining again, and we couldn't really shop comfortably without our feet getting soaked and our slippers getting soggy and icky.

we rested our tired and wet feet at a small cafe. I ordered a cup of hot Earl Grey while he got himself a rather sour 'orangina-like' concoction of drink. We realised that it was almost 5pm when our drinks came and it didn't look nice to walk around along the streets when it's raining.

so we settled for an early dinner of Chicken Murtabak (that was half soggy coz of the curry) and almost-tasteless Ice Teh-C. Remember, next time when u're at Arab Street, NEVER eat prata at the shop called 'Zam Zam Restaurant" coz honestly, we felt that it wasn't worth our money over the plate of prata. Should haf gone to the shop that was 2 doors down (called "Mina Prata" i think) coz MB and his fren ate there before and he said it was much better and ppl there were friendlier.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

another chilly nite, do remember to cover yourself tight eh?

gonna zzz now... loads of stuff waiting for me tomorrow... *yawnz*

Balcony + IndoChine
Tuesday, January 10, 2006 @ 2:30 am

yoyoyo!!!

jus came back from a great live band gig at Indochine!!! *roars!*

EIC is really S.O.L.I.D man! i was actually feeling quite sian initially coz the crowd was kinda old and there aren't any seats around so all we could do was jus stand there..

Ben and I went outside to sit at the bench to take a breather. Geok came with her fren but they decided to go the Al Fresco part of IndoChine instead.

When we went back in, EIC was already playing!! Gosh, i must say they're my favourite for now!!! Must go and listen to them play at Wala's... think I would be more 'high' at Wala's coz the place is more compact so the music would be more contained...

me and tired ben me and cheeky ben
hah i think i look GREAT in this 2 photos!! :P yah i'm a NARCISSIST!!! *bleah*

anyway, i tried to take some pictures of the band. (the 2 lead singers were awesome!!!) but it was still kinda blurry, so i jus made a collage out of it:

eic group

oh and i saw Adrian there too!! hahah :P actually jio-ed him along but he didn't want to but ended up his fren called him yesterday to come and he came!! <<- win liao lo, ask him come he dun wan den his fren ask him den he come ;P

Pic 010
aiyah, i shud haf stood on his left den my face dun look so big!! ;P

anyway, was a pleasant surprise to meet him. Actually he intro-ed to me live band gigs abt a yr ago, but i wasn't too 'heart' abt it until recently... missed so many live band gigs man!! urgh.. anyway, goin to ask him to jio me whenever he's goin for any live band gigs from now on!!! hahah :P

while i was dancing along to the music, i had a sudden thought: If only I could sing well like Shirlyn from The Unexpected... mebbe i wud form a band and be like them too!! I think i quite like the kinda band lifestyle (albeit it doesn't earn much but I love their passion for music!!).

ok gotta zzz....nitez!

卡拉永遠OK!!!!!
Saturday, January 07, 2006 @ 10:57 pm

had so much fun at the ktv yesterday!! ;P

met up with Jie Si, Leng Lee and Su Jun for a 5 hour ktv session at KBox Cineleisure!!!

intially the staff told us Student package is only valid for 3 hours so we waited for Su Jun to arrive first before we decide if we want to sing now or much later. But who knows, when we decided to sing first, the same staff told us we are entitled to sing until 7pm!!! hahah, i was so excited!!

I grabbed the mic and started singing immediately when we got in!! how excited man! i was actually watching Jay Chou's concert VCD at home to 'practise' my singing before the ktv session! crazy already, but we really had so much fun!!!

din noe there were so many nice chinese songs now.. And found out that our dear Leng Lee is really a true blue KTV Queen sia!!! She can tell you which part to sing for a SHE number; how to start a song and even blend in for a duet!!! *applause* And she was singing with a bad cough leh!! Can't imagine when how she'll 'perform' when she's well!! (she said that she wasn't in top form yet!! :O)

some candid shots we took:

Pic 001

the KTV fanatics!!!

Pic 002

see how Leng Lee is concentrating on singing her song?? haha and JieSi is always making funny faces! :P

Pic 007

another group photo!! duno why my legs stretched until lidat :P

Pic 004

another 'act cute' photo! SuJun still holding onto her mike!! hur hur ;)

well after singing straight from 2-7pm, we adjourned for dinner at the NYDC outside Heerens.

we each ordered sth light coz we were quite full from the drinks and tidbits over at KBox. Oh, i mus say this: the peanuts at KBox are REFILLABLE. Darn, we only knew it yesterday can!! always paying $5 for 2 persons and only take one serving. so LUGI!!! *angry*

but we had our money's worth ystd!! hahah :P We actually asked the staff to refill it 4 times and each time he/she brought in 3 bowls!! so that's about 12 rite? and our dear Jie Si ate 10 herself!!! Should haf taken the photo of her munching away man, she literally 'combed' the tidbit bowl jus as the staff put down the newly refilled ones!!! :P

Winne came to joins us for dinner and we realised that it'll prob be about 1.5 years later where we'll prob be able to sit down tog with all of us for a decent meal. Lenglee is going for exchange to Sweden and only be back in late June while Winne is going for a 1 yr exchange programme (they call it NOC) and she'll be leaving in Jun also... hopefully Lenglee will come back earlier and Winne will leave later so at least we'll still haf some time to meet up again before she leaves for Shanghai.

each of us took pics with our dear Leng Lee:

Pic 012

Winne, Leng Lee and Me

i decided to take more pictures since they'll be gone for several months so we walked all the way to the Glass House opp Dhoby Ghaut mrt to take pictures!! it was drizzling when we got there, but we couldn't care less and continued taking photos!! hahahah :D

Pic 017

We L.O.V.E each other!!!

Pic 018

too bad we can't get any passer-by to help us take a complet group photo.. another L.O.V.E with me inside!! :P

it was really a great outing with my gal pals... a pity we can't do this often since Leng Lee will be in the cold Sweden for the next few months.. hopefully we'll get to go out and sing KTV again!!! :P

Happy New Year folks!! hope u guys had an enjoyable time celebrating with your friends or loved ones yesterday!! :)

phew, luckily i wasn't at Mt Faber or Esplanade area.. saw the news jus now, oh man, there was such a huuuge crowd there! i can't take crowds anymore, jus can't imagine myself having to be sandwiched in between loads of people, plus everyone will be perspiring like crazy and all the odours and such.... ok i need not elaborate further, u shud get the pic ;)

went for Cindy's chalet for her 21st birthday yesterday at Aloha Loyang. James came to fetch me and MB at Pasir Ris mrt and we made our way there around 7-ish. We thought we were rather early but it turned out that there were already a handful of people there already! She invited her pri sch/seconday/JC/Uni frens, hall mates, ex-colleagues and relatives!!! There weren't much food left by the time we start to dig in but luckily i wasn't really hungry too! :P She was so busy running around taking photos and chatting w all her frens, i guess she mus be tired yet happy to see all her frens at the same time! :)

but i think it's kinda nice to be born on 1st of Jan coz you always get to celebrate your birthday with so many ppl who are welcoming the new year as well! (plus free fireworks rite?? :P) But being the 'baby' amongst us, she's really a nice and cute gal... won't forget those crazy times that we had when we were doing our 206 projects! James asked me which was the project that i enjoyed doing most and we both agreed unanimously that it was 206 last semester! (2nd sem of 2nd year) haha didn't expect to meet such fun-loving and garang ppl! we actually had so much fun doing that proj man! ;P

after that, MB and I went home with a tub of Ben & Jerry's Choc Chip with Cookie Dough to eat while we watch the dvds we rented.

we watched The Island first. This show is about this scientist using human clones to harvest the organs or body parts for rich people to use and they programmed them to let them believe that their sole purpose of surviving is going to 'The Island', which did not even exist. It was only until some time, the male lead develops his mind into one that is almost as complex as the human being, that he starts to question his existence and the whole idea about just waiting to be picked to go to the island.

and so the story unfolds when he realised the so called 'island' will be the operating table where the ppl harvest the organs or body parts that is to be transplanted to their 'owners'. He brought along the female lead and rescued her from being slaughtered on the op table and managed to save the day by destroying that huge cloning lab and releasing thousands of clones to the real world.

it was rather exciting i think, and as usual, tapped into the futuristic theme of human cloning and how those rich and famous 'extends' their life by spending millions to clone another of themselves so as to use the clone's organs that is absolutely identical which will be complications-free. not too bad though, considering i spent $4.50 for a blockbuster movie where 3 people are watching.. heh :P

we decided to carry on to watch the next dvd which is this hilarious show called The 40 Year Old Virgin.

well i guess the title says it all! :P it's about this down-to-earth guy called Andy, who works at an electronic store and at the age of 40, he still remains a virgin. The funny part was how when his colleagues found out about it, they tried ways and means to get a woman for him. Along the way, he met this divorcee with 3 kids, Trish and they mutually agreed to abstain from sex for 20 dates to see if they can develop feelings for each other, minus the whole sex part.
it's kinda funny (most of my frens are 21 already so i think you're legal to watch this :) and all those lame jokes are really mind-tickling! a good show for a great laugh esp if you're watching w a bunch of your buddies ;)

MB and I din really finished it coz halfway through, we were getting really sleepy (albeit the show was really hilarious) so we continued again the next morning.

And, we decided to watch Bleach!! :P

actually MB burnt the DVD of 55 episodes for me after exams finished but i jus didn't haf the time to watch it. but hey! now i noe why he liked it so much! he even got a set of the Bleach character figurines!! :P

haha i'm into my 11th episode only, but i mus say it's really funny! Sometimes i jus wonder how these producers can come up with stories and characters like these man! Jap anime is really the best! the last anime i watched was Love Hina, so i guess Bleach will my next hot favourite for the next few weeks!! :)

initally i can't really understand why MB likes about this anime, but well if you can't beat him, den join him!! :P but not animes are my cup of tea, like Gundam (i still can't fathom why guys lurrrve it so much, although i liked the figurines ;P), Naruto all these... heh i guess boy will be boys and their favourite will be their toys huh ;P

ok i'm goin to catch up with my Bleach episodes!! Happy New year once again! :)
