hey guys!!
how was your 團圓飯?hope it's real good!! :P heard alot of my pals are having steamboat for dinner!! haha ;) it's the thought that everyone in the family sitting down together to have dinner that's meaningful rite?
had mine at this Hakka restaurant place at Balestier Road. Mum saw the food review from newspaper and suggested we shd go try it for our TYF (ben used this as short form for reunion dinner :P).
but there was a small episode during the dinner. You see, the boss who had confirmed with me for my reservation didn't write it down in their book so when we arrive, they kept saying they dun haf anyone coming for dinner at 7pm. Of course I'd argued coz i remembered clearly that the person on the phone even asked for my name and hp no.
but in the end we still haf food to eat lar... but Dad and Mum were complaining that the food was sub-standard. They anyhow cook and serve the dishes. Plus the $88 set dinner we ordered was nothing much of a hoo-ha. Had expected some signature dishes like 紅槽雞,梅菜扣肉,燜豬腳 and such.. but there wasn't any. The dishes were so common looking and no signs of 'special effort' was put in to quantify for the $88 we're paying.
When the bill came, we realised even 4 bowls of white rice wasn't included in the package!!! -_-" damn sianz lar, but luckily after that we quickly forgot abt the dinner as we walked along the S'pore River :)
Dad and Mum by the river side...
Mum choosing some pottery plates..

Pretty Me!!! (daddy din take in the Esplanade 'durian' in the pic coz he said take liao den i'll look like durian?? -_-")
Actually there wasn't much to see at the River Hong Bao. It was a much smaller scale as compared to the previous years. Most of the ppl were the non-Chinese Singaporeans or foreign tourists. Mum said that prob coz it was still early (we reached there ard 8+, 9pm) and ppl were still prob having their reunion dinner.
We walked around the Singapore River taking photos. Was trying to practise some night photography with my digi cam, but i think to be able to take really nice shots (like those on Edwin's blog) nid those really good and expensive pro-consumer cameras (or mebbe like MB's Olympus DSLR). Then again, I'm just those point-and-shoot trigger happy kinds, as long got me pretty pretty in the photo can liao.. hahah :D
Speaking of which, i took the nicest photo of Dad!!

Don't he look like some 笑面佛 or something?? hahah :P

And me again!!! Dun I look nice?? hahah :P (oops! too bhb liao) I shud really get down to slimming den I prob can look prettier!! *obsessed freak*
After walking around looking for nice chill out place to sit down and listen to music, we spotted this cool night spot opp Clarke Quay. It was IndoChine at Empress Place, jus beside the ACM. The place was pretty cool just like their other establishment at Wisma Atria. It has nice couches in the centre, seats by the river, live band and cool night breeze. There were lotsa ang-mohs and I tink it's a real nice chill-out place. Shall come again with my pals next time..
Ordered an Apple Martini for Mum, 1/2 pint Erdinger for Dad and Me, a Corona.
Nice jazz music, nice company and nice drink. We went back home feeling totally satiated. :)
Happy Chinese New Year Folks!! May the Dog Year be a good one that brings you good health, fortune and good wishes!! 恭喜發財!:D
