my new hobby

Haha you must be wondering what have I gotten myself into?
I've decided to provide some 'nourishment' to my rather dried-up brain (work, sleep, eat and work) by picking up a book to read during my leisure time.
I wanted something easy to read, funny and most of all, light-hearted. Didn't want to spend money to get new ones, coz I've quite a fair bit of new books kept in my cupboard and I really think, I should sell to some 2nd-hand store or something (they're chinese novels btw, by HK female writer 深雪. Anybody fancies her work? Willing to let go almost her entire collection.. Tag me! :P).
So I browsed around the library looking for nice books and I remembered my fren told me that the
Shopaholic series is quite interesting, although I think most of you should have read it some time back. But all I can find at the library, is a torn and tattered one, which realli smells awful that I had to put it back to the shelves and can't bear another glance at it.
So I tried Popular instead and saw some nice ones like
The Nanny Diaries, new book by
Mitch Albom and
Jodie Picoult series. But when I saw the price tag, the interest faded. It cost about 17 to 18 bucks for one paperback! I mean I think i'll probably finish it in 3-4 days, and then stash it somewhere in the cupboard, completely forgotten about it, and in the
NEAR future, might just chanced upon it when I'm decluttering. So why bother??!
So
N-O. I decided to pick up a book from Kor and started reading Dan Brown's Angels and Demons. And it was a
BAD choice. The starting few pages were
SO simliar to Da Vinci Code. Same protagonist, same plot and basically it's totally Da Vinci. It was such a pain to read that I fell asleep after 5min.
Luckily my senior lent me the
Shopaholic Abroad novel and she highly recommends it! Goodness, I tell you, I was quite hooked on it and was basically reading regardless whether I was walking from NEL to the North-South line at Dhoby Gaut or when I was waiting for the feeder bus to come! *grinz*
Even though my eyes were tired, I'd still read it jus so I can know what's the ending like. Kinda feel like those times when I was busy chasing Taiwan dramas. :P:P
and I finished the book! Like what, 3 days? That's only those times in the morning and evening when i'm travelling to work and home. I think it's quite an achievement don't u think? :P
Point of the entry is,
does anyone has the rest of the Shopaholic series to lend me???? :P Or any other nice reads, that is funny, witty and light-hearted. I think I need these kind of genres to make myself laugh a little and feel good. Hehs :D
Ok, that's all for now. and Hoi, hope you enjoyed my entry ;)
