hihi i'm back =)
Sunday, October 29, 2006 @ 3:03 pm

Ok I was feeling emo from the previous entry so i might sound rather pessimistic and down.. But sHu is back again on the rebound! haha :D (I'm on perpetual mood swings lar..)

Weekends had been good. Had this affordable western dinner opp Clementi (one of the blocks' kopitiam) called Botak Jones. Their serving is rather huge and Aussie-like, with loads of chip/fries even tho u nv ask for more. Prices are affordable as well, consider it's located in an open-air kopitiam. It's opened by this ang moh who is, yes, botak and burly. His crew are friendly as well, walking around asking people's comments on the food etc.

Go try it if you're nearby @ Clementi. Jus take the covered linkway that's on the side opp to the central and walk straight until u see bright neon lights at the back of the coffeeshop. But be warned that food does take some time to arrive during dinner, so go early if possible!! :)

On Saturday, after constant nagging from Mum and my sensitive nose (it's an indicator for the level of dust accumulated), I decided to do some spring cleaning in my room.

Threw away 2 big trash bags full of rubbish and stuff that I've kept since JC (i'm a rubbish collector). Cleaned and vacummed my hi-fi set, photo frames, shelves and drawers. Now my room feels a little empty... Hah There's a big space beside the hi-fi that used to be loads of novels, which I've kept inside my cupboard to keep them away from dust. Think I shud drop by Ikea or Daiso during one of the weekends to see if there's any cute things to spruce up the room.

Oh and I finally threw away the Jay Chou poster hanging on my wall which MB gotten for me in Year 1. It's time to make way for a collage poster that I've been contemplating for ages!!!

Btw, does anyone know how to keep your room free from dust?? Or rather minimize the amount of dust?? I don't see my Gor's room being as dusty as mine and I only kept my windows open when i come home in the evening, so how come it's still like the dustiest area in the entire house????!!! Urgh.

Tom will be back in office for some training session w my Run people.. Finally some internet pls?? :D

where did shu go?
Thursday, October 26, 2006 @ 11:04 pm

lately, I've been feeling that a part of me is lingering somewhere else, in a far far away land, just not at work.

I was drifting from daze and work today and am totally listless and fidgety. Tried to bring myself back by talking and asking questions (in fact loads of stupid questions to my senior, which I think I could possibly easily figure it out if I have 'myself' back today).

I feel disgusted that I'm feeling incompetent. I don't want to make people feel that i'm incompetent. That's a terrible feeling.

I'm trying hard to learn but I feel stifled and like I wished I had more time to read thru things before doing it, but time is of the essence right now.

I wished I could breeze through the work like my senior does and how I wish it could happen NOW. But this is naive thought, because everything comes with hard work and experience.

I can only wish time flies by faster so I can be more confident of myself at work and know what I am doin.

Oh God, I need strength.

2006王力宏盖世英雄演唱会
Sunday, October 22, 2006 @ 9:58 pm

This has got to be the best concert I've seen!! (altho the last one I caught was Jay's concert back in 2002 :P)

He is multi-talented and so handsome!!! *swoons* and he really is a brilliant musician plus the whole theme of 'chink-ed out' was cleverly portrayed during the concert, with mixes of chinese opera and hip hop R&B in it!!

My lousy commentary really cannot justify the whole experience of being at the Indoor Stadium and hear him crooned to hits like 流泪手心,唯一,写一首简单的歌, Kiss Goodbye and Forever.... and the list can go on!

He totally wowed us with switching in between musical instruments like a snap of the fingers. He played the guitar, piano, violin, drums and er-hu!! OMG he's really damn talented or what!!

I still remember when I heard him sang Kiss Goodbye, I could feel my heart melting away!! (I better not let MB read this *grinz*)

So glad I was able to attend this concert to hear what top quality music is like. HURRAH!!!

王力宏是盖世英雄!!!

天天夜夜 + 'comprain' + Lee Hom concert
Saturday, October 21, 2006 @ 11:41 am

this is the song I hear for the past 3 days on the billboard of OUB Plaza. Kind of aptly described my disgusting job of "no-day-no-night"

Was quite pissed off with my manager when I received late notice on Tue evening about my sudden booking back to BNP for 3 days of vouching. I would appreciate if you could communicate with me first before sending the email to the planner and cc me to 'notify' me. That is not communicate ok, more like a COMMAND.

Anyway, despite how reluctant I was to go back on the job, I had no choice but to do it. Vouching seemed easy, even though it's for almost 200 samples. But i was wrong, it takes time to understand exactly what I'm vouching and ensure I was doing the right thing to address the risks. (Pardon me for the technicalities, I can't be bothered to summarize in lay-man terms)

Had been staying late till almost 9+, 10pm and I can really feel the toll on me. It should be some brainless work, but somehow I felt as if I'm using more brain power than I had when I was preparing for exams. Client was unhappy of pulling out tonnes of files for me and not to mention that they were having antoher 2 groups of regulatory inspect and internal auditors at the same time as well. I would be pissed off myself for having so many buggers.

MB said i'm too pampered already. Without fail, for every job that I had so far, I will always have something to complain about (wouldn't you). Everything is not perfect what, complaining is just a way to vent out my grumbles and frustration, rather than bingeing or getting all depressed. But then again, I quite agree with his analysis, I guess I'm really quite sheltered in the past and now is only the BEGINNING of everything. I'm so scaared... :S:S:S

And i learnt a very impt survival rule yesterday from my senior: No matter what, don't pour your heart out to people whom you're not close with. It may sound sad to hear that, but I can't agree more that this is really the way it works now when u're in this whole shit altogether. You duno if those you think you can trust will backstab you behind ur back or make use of you as a tool to get back at someone they dislike. This is a dog-eat-dog world, nothing else.

I wonder if they have a book on the Dummy Guide of Survival in the working world. Or maybe I can start accumulating my experiences and publish one when i'm 50.

On a sidenote, i think me and hOi have telepathy. I was jus finished reading her blog where she mentioned that I should call her and ask about her eventful day, my hp rang and voila! It was Ms Hoi. Talk about coincidence man!!! But it was really good to hear from and bitching about each other's lousy jobs and the planner. Hah :D I guess we all need such friends to relieve us some 'pain' from work.

A happier note, it's Lee Hom's concert @ Indoor Stadium tonight!!!! Hv been waiting for 2months since the tix were bought!! After that it's supper the guys and MB at Bt Timah!!! Can't wait for that too, so long nv see each other liao, I think it's gonna be another bitching session!!! muahahaha :P

That's all from me now. This entry is to show everyone that I'm still alive and kicking.

Hallelujah!

DnD + Cosy Weekend + Slack
Monday, October 09, 2006 @ 8:20 pm

realised i haven been updating much...

that's jus coz the past weekend was really eventful that I was jus plain tired to write anything.

PwC DnD 2006

Last Fri was the my first DnD at PwC. Only ended work at about 530pm at client's place, and had to lug my barang barang back home to change and make up before going for the dinner again. Was feeling quite tired when I got back home, but I felt that I deserve a good break for the stressed 3 weeks that I've been working, so why not a sponsored dinner with free flow of booze and familiar company?

By the time I reached, it was already 8pm and I missed the first dish. Not as if it's real nice but I'm glad I did go in the end. It was really comforting to see my Run people, and whining about work and stuff.

I guessed everyone really had a great time (judging how hard the rest drank!) and we were just crazy about taking photos!! I think for almost 1 hour, we jus huddled together in our area and take a hell load of photos!!! :D

'Newlywed' weekend

Ugin came over to stay on Fri night after my DnD, and we slept in till almost 10am on Sat morn.
Had breakfast at Punggol Plaza and did some marketing for lunch, before coming back to start on my week full of chores.

He helped to vacuum the house and I mopped. I washed the clothes and hang them, and wiped the glass tables and cupboards.

He made lunch for the both of us and we were experimenting with meatballs with mushroom sauce and boiled broccoli. We mixed 200g of minced beef with 100g of minced pork for our balls. We got McCormick ready-to-cook mushroom sauce as the gravy and broccoli as the salad.

I must say i'm quite proud of the meatballs!!! They look absolutely yummylicious!!! ;P But we kinda put too much water to the mushroom sauce and ended up putting a tad too much of corn starch to make the gravy look thick. hahas :D

Chef Ugin at work

The great chef at work!!

sizzling hot!!!

Look at the sizzling hot meatballss!!

the 'shugin' meatballs!!

Ta-daaa!!! The finished product! :P Shall add more stuff to it next time, like baby carrots, mashed potatoes and minestrone soup!

yummylicious!!!

Look at how he's sinking his teeth in it!! haha :P

But it turned out really tasty and we wiped the plates clean!!

After which, I went over to his house to stay for the night and duno why, I jus suddenly have a nasty bout of PMS and got myself bawling like nobody's business.

So the dearie suggested eating out and I decided to bring him to eat my fave 可爱鸡 @ Coronation Plaza!! And coincidentally, it was also the MAF celebration at Hwa Chong. Had wanted to pop by and see the crowd but Mr Potato din like such things so we had to settle for chicken rice only. :P

Ke Ai Ji @ Coro

Sure brings back loads of memories from JC eh?

Dessert was the famous Island Creamery nearby at Serene's Centre and boy was it crowded!! Totally digged their Teh Tarik ice cream!! (even bought 2 tubs back home to eat! :P) It was really tasty, and I could feel the real authentic teh tarik taste in the ice-cream! Plus, it wasn't too sweet (in fact Ugin's mum commented it was abit bitter! that goes to show they really use the real stuff to make it ;).

yummy teh-tarik ice-cream

Teh-tarik is the best!!!

It was a really good night out with my boy! Thanks darling!! :P

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Basically, that sums up my weekend... Nua-ed the entire Sun afternoon and had a nice BBQ seafood dinner with his parents at the kopitiam in Clementi, beside the defunct cinema. Chit-chatted with them and it was a great dinner with them... I miss my parents!!! bah. :/

Today is spent slacking in office doing computer-based training (but i managed to finished it in an hour w the help of my colleagues! :P)

Caught Little Miss Sunshine with Ugin at Cathay Orchard. Read the review that it was quite a good film and I must say, the movie is really quite worth the money.

It's simple yet brings across the message very strongly. There's tears and laughter throughout and everyone (including the Grandpa and the little girl who dreams to win the pageant) were really awesome. Everyone has a story to tell, from "Do you want to be a winner or loser" Dad to the brother, who took a vow of silence to spur himself to get into the pilot academy, only knowing that he's actually color blind and first word he said after 9months of silence was fuck and to the adorable little Olive, who innocently performed a striptease show during her talent item in the Little Miss Sunshine pageant and dedicated to her Grandpa who was "behind the trunk in the van".

It's quite difficult to find a family that has such 'multitude' yet you can see a little bit of yourself in everybody's characters.

Forget about those big-shots commercial Hollywood movies, we should support independent films sometimes to encourage stories like Little Miss Sunshine to be played in the theatres.

Go catch it if u can, it's really worth it ;)

TGIF Series: Episode 2
Monday, October 02, 2006 @ 9:46 pm

Last Friday, saw The Run (aka the batch of new A1s) gather together again for steamboat and drinks!!

Somehow it seemed like there's loads of activities lined up until Christmas 2006!! Boy am I glad to be part of this group of fun-loving peeps!

I suggested having steamboat at Chuan Yi Pin, beside Icon Bugis. Heard from Roy that it wasn't too bad (but he said it wasn't as nice on his 2nd visit). We chose half Ma La and half herbal chicken soup base. I must say their Ma La really tasted sucky!! x_x It was too spicy and peppery that I can't taste anything at all!! Best part was they refilled the soup base for 2 different kinds of flavours! And it cost us about $20 each for the not-so-nice dinner. I bet there are other better steamboats around... mebbe I shud try the famous 天天火锅 at Tan Que Lan Street next time. :)

After which, we adjourned to Labryinth, this pool-pub place opp Sunshine Plaza (got the famous wanton mee stall also) for some drinks. It was quite dark and crammed, caused it was packed with smokers and drinkers. Oh well, it's the company that matters. We opened 2 bottles of Absolut and a bottle of Jim Beam. Some groups of us played finger-guessing games that were totally hilarious; I sang 2 songs with Theresa (we waited darn long for it!) and some were quite sleepy/drunky and just rested on the nice comfy sofa.

It was good night of hanging out, what with all of us receiving our 1st pay for our first full-time job!!

collage: TGIF drinks @ Labryinth on 29th Sep '06

Coming friday will be the company's annual D&D (shoo fast!!) and there'll be more pictures up here!! (hmm, seems like every Friday of mine is packed with sumthing!!)

See you guys this Friday!!!
