After months of preparation, our NBS Convocation Ball has finally come to a beautiful end.

It was a night of fun, laughter, joy and most important of all, the company of my best friends in Uni. After painstakingly organising and planning since the start of this year, all our hardwork, unhappiness and efforts was finally rewarded with praises from the Alumni and everyone who attended. The moment on stage where we received our acknowledgements made all the previous months of hardwork and weariness all worth it. :)

It was the best choice to choose Fullerton Hotel for our Ball, partly because I'm also working temp there and my colleagues have really helped me one way or another to make everything so successful last night. It's also because this will probably the one and only time for most of the people to step into their Ballroom and enjoy their banquet dinner. (Liu BiBi commented that the food tasted sucky and that Chiang Mai food was better!! :P) But I guessed most of the people can't be bothered coz all they cared was to take loads and loads of photos! (I'm guilty as charged!! ;D)

We were lucky to get a room overnight and boy was it comfortable!! Check out the gigantic bathtub and king size bed!!

After which, I rushed to get my hair styled at Far East Plaze. Thanks to hOi's good recommendations, Sean the stylist was really awesome. At first I can't quite figure out what's he trying to do with my hair, but after 1.5 hrs sitting there, with about 40 hairclips on my head and loads and loads of hair spray, I must say I turned some heads that night!! *grinz* :P

With the right hair, dress and make-up, I'm all set to enjoy the wonderful night! Frankly speaking, I was quite fatigued as I still had to work half day yesterday and rushing to and fro to get everything and done. I wasn't exactly excited when people start to come in and hang around taking photos outside the Ballroom. I loitered around, took some pictures, helping people to take photos and basically was quite literally a BIMBO VASE. :/

Thanks for the memories! To Liu BiBi, i'd have voted for u as the Man of the Nite!! Thanks for the great friendship and good luck on your new job!

Presenting.............
The wonderful committee who is behind the Ball! Kudos to everyone! Thanks for all the wonderful memories together!

After loads of photo taking and with a wonderful emcee hosting the event, the Ball was concluded with cheers, laughters, hugs and congratulations. I still can't quite believe that 3 years of undergrad life has ended. Seriously, a part of me misses the old school days, where I get to meet all my pals, chit chat over a lunch at Can B, checking email or printing notes at FAL or just going over to Sin/BiBi's hall to watch them play PS2.

It's gonna be difficult to meet up next time, but nonetheless, these are friends whom has created a milestone in my life and will always stay in my heart and memories.

To all my friends who has graduated: Thank you for crossing my path in one way or another, each and everyone of your presence has made my undergrad life in NTU, less boring, more enjoyable and simply memorable.

Till then, I hope everyone had a great time last night. Hope to stay in contact with everyone! Take care!!~~~

Luv, sHu

interview + JB + serene's farewell
Sunday, July 09, 2006 @ 11:43 pm

haha basically, my past week has been categorised above: interviews, JB trip on Saturday and farewell luncheon today with Serene and hOi.

First, interviews. Had applied for AGD and Siemens traineeship program, and this week had 2nd round for AGD and analytical test for Siemens.

I guessed most of my pals would have heard my 'complaints' regarding the arrogant b**ch at AGD and how we had 'cross-fired' during the interview, resulting in her challenging me to write a paper on public policy. Shall not dwell into it, but after thinking and attempting to research on possible topics to write for my paper, I've decided to give up. Not in the negative sense, but basically, I CAN'T BE BOTHERED with her. But I'll write an email regarding my thoughts and feelings during the interview. Will post up the mail and her response (if she does reply) on my blog, so stay tuned!

Siemens test was another gruelling one. It started off with a 6min test on mathematical sequences, and I immediately was stumped. I hadn't done these for years and when I saw those sequences, my mind just went blank. Fortunately, I managed to work out one and guessed the other. 2 answered out of 10 questions. The rest were equally pressurising and time-crunching. Before we could finished reading the instructions on the paper, the time has already passed a minute. Second part was to write an essay on how I would think my country would be like in 10 years' time. Ok, that was easy, coz 10 years ain't that long anyway. It was a good experience overall. :)

On Saturday, MB and I decided to venture out of Spore to JB and check out any new stuff on the other side of the causeway. We only arrived at the M'sian customs ard 3pm and made our way to Holiday Plaza after that. Walked around, changed our money and I tried to look for some nice dresses but the stuff there weren't that fantastic. In the end, we ended up cutting hair at a poshly-decorated salon, with sofa and chandeliers. Waited for almost an hour before my turn, and by which, MB had almost finished with his haircut. Mine was long, with loooong washing and scrubbing, loooong cutting (I was only trimming!) and loooong hair drying. Only redeeming factor was that it made all my Ringgit worth (we spent about 2hours jus to cut hair!) and I must say the stylist' skills was not bad.

not-so-exciting JB trip

After which, we went back to City Square to bum around. It was slightly more buzzling than Holiday Plaza, but again, the fashion there didn't quite match my preference either. Dinner was at Season's (think it was a joint venture with Swensen's) and we had spring chicken, iced lemon tea and topless 5 at almost half price!!

yummy spring chicken

check out the spring chicken! it's like 4 Sing dollars only lor! :P

We came out about 9pm and clearing S'pore customs was so fast!! Reached home slightly after 10pm. Gotten 2 sets of Taiwanese dramas DVDs!! So happy! been wanting to watch it long ago, now I can!! ;) And the air in JB is really quite polluted, coz me and MB had 2 pimples each on our face already!! boohoo :/

Met up with hOi and Serene today as our dear baby girl is going to leave for studies in Melbourne on Wednesday! boohoo, so many people leaving!! :(

Lunch was at Galilee & Friends cafe on the 5th floor of Cineleisure and we gotten a good corner seat. Too bad it was raining, else the view would've been great!

two pretty babes

Me and Serene: The 'black and white' combi *lol*

at galilee's cafe

HC babes! each of us are 1 year old difference. The 21, 22 and 23! :P

We were bored, so we ended up playing UNO stacko!! and it was seriously quit fun! Got a video of me being the one that cause everything to collapse! boohoo :P

piece of cake! careful careful
the balancing act

All of us concentrating not to be the ONE that caused it to fall!

at galilee's cafe

See you 1 year later babe! *muacks*

We later adjourned to Coffee Club Xpress for coffee. According to hOi, me and Serene are so tai-tai-ish!! haha welcome to da club hOi!! :P

How can we missed the oh-so-sinful Muddy Mudpie?? *finger-licking*

It's great to meet up again! 1 year will breeze by and before we all know it, you'll be back to Sg again! Take care babe! We'll all miss you!

a hearty weekend
Sunday, July 02, 2006 @ 10:18 pm

it was one of the most enjoyable barbeques I had ever, and I was privileged to spend the evening with a group of ladies.

the barbeque was organised by Ugin's mum, and she invited some of her good frens whom she has known through her daily excercises and walks. These group of ladies are witty, independent, enjoying life's finest, carefree, warm and friendly. A couple of them are married with children, and there was one particular lady whom I taught was still single, was actually married with 3 children and the oldest was already 15!

these ladies are the kind of woman that I want to become when I reach my mid-30s and early 40s. A woman that has gone through more than a quarter of my life, yet I am financially independent, have a family and group of friends whom I can chat and laugh over wine and food. Someone that is enjoying life to the fullest during every minute of the day!!

Ugin's mum prepared a sumptuous barbeque spread: fresh stingray generously slapped with loads of chilli and belachan, gourmet beef steak and bacon, well-marinated chicken wings, sotong, otar, as well as mee siam bee hoon from her frens and bottles of wine!

We were the first group to start the fire at the pit and were the last to pack up and leave!! All thanks to the funny and witty frens Ugin's mum have! I really dun feel the age gap that we have, coz they're really funny and it jus feels great to be able to chat with them freely. Initially, me and MB tot it'll be another group of 'Aunties' who will just sit there and wait to be served. But we were wrong! They were really helpful and took turns to help with barbequeing of the food while we take a breather from the charcoal and smoke.

Over chats and laughter, they opened bottles after bottles of red and white wine. From Germany, to Russia and Australia, felt as if you're taking a holiday tour around the world like that. I only took a small sip of the Germany white wine and it actually smells and tastes like beer! haha :) Prolly that's y I quite like the taste of white instead of red :P

6 hours of barbeque plus drinking didn't feel that long until the people all around us started to leave and the security guard kept patrolling near us. Ugin's mum was less of a sober state and we helped out with the cleaning before going to bed at almost 1am.

Church was great today and we had a Pastor from the Mandarin and Hokkien service to preach this Sunday. According to MB, he drives a Porsche. He was really witty and used alot of real life experiences to relate the Bible teachings to us. It was really a good service and thank God for the wonderful church service! :)

Lunch was at the new Muthu's Curry in Suntec. We ordered a small curry fish head, and other side dishes and we each had a Naan that was freshly made upon ordering. On the whole, the curry fish head was good, cept that it could be hotter coz a warm curry fish head doesn't make it too appetizing after all. But the fish head is quite fresh and has a lot of meat. You guys can try it out some time! :)

Thank God for the wonderful weekend that I have, and next Sunday my favourite Pastor Prince will be back to preach!! Can't wait for next week to come! :P

Good nite peeps, tomorrow is another day of work!! *sianzz*
