had an interview at KPMG this morning.
Was almost late and threw myself into a frenzy when I couldn't find the pair of close-toed heels that I need to wear. Called Mum and she jus told me to find among the shoe boxes. Luckily Dad was at home and he helped me. But it delayed me for a few minutes and I was kinda tempted to take a cab. Luckily I didn't, coz when i step out of the house, i saw 2 ppl waiting by the road for taixs too. Think my area here is super difficult to hail a cab in the mornings. I've tried it and I paid the price man..
Anyway, luckily the NEL was fast enough and I've checked the place before today, so I managed to find the building quickly. I had been walking pretty fast coz I was scared I wud be late. You wouldn't want to be late on ur interview rite?
Reached the office at 10min before 10am.. Phew, the lady was already there receiving me. After I waited for a couple of minutes for the room to clear out, the lady drop me a bombshell, totally caught me unprepared. I was suppose to write a 1-page essay type thingy, pertaining to the question, which goes sth like this: "You are in the midst of finalising the audit for your client's company but you found that some of the important accounting schedules were incomplete. The deadline for submission is coming. Write a letter to the Managing Director to tell him of the situation and seek his advice". Yah sth along this line lar...
BUt well, i wasn't expecting anything, let alone having to write a letter there and then! Gosh, i was cursing and swearing inside. But no choice, i only haf 10min to finish up, so I tried my best to write whatever I can think of. May not be perfect, but think that's the best I could do liao..
After that the manager called Claudia came in. She's quite nice, din feel any nervousness or tension when I was speaking with her. (Some people makes me feel weak in the knee sometimes.. ;P) Anyway, she asked me a few questions like why did i choose KPMG and what do i hope to learn out from this internship yada yada. The USUAL.
After that, she began to brief me about the workings in their department and the kind of clients the co has dealt with etc. By the word 'brief', that is an understatement coz she talked super fast and she was talking most of the time.. haha :) But she got me rather interested in the things the department was doing and I like the fact that the staff came from various countries also. Loved to make new friends man... :)
Overall, think I did pretty okay and I gave her quite a good impression also I guess. Hopefully I'll be able to do internship at KPMG this holidays.. hoi, geok, li, apply KPMG for ur PA and we can go lunches together!! :)
ok time for a nap... i still haf tonnes of readings waiting for me... sianzz
