Lunch @ Viet Cafe
Tuesday, August 22, 2006 @ 8:20 pm

Had lunch with my colleagues to celebrate birthdays for 2 of them.

I chose Viet Cafe, which is near our hotel and I've ate at their Suntec branch (has closed down), and it's quite a unique cuisine.

We dashed out of office at 12 sharp and ventured to this well-hidden restaurant, that is located at the basement. We were rather early for lunch but after we have sat down for a coupla minutes, the place was almost packed!

All of us ordered their noodle soup set, which comes with a juice and either pomelo or chicken salad. It was really yummy and serving was just nice, although I was quite full at the end of it! :P

spicy beef noodle soup yummy!!

Yummy!! but i thought the soup could be spicier! but the salad was great! :P

Then we started exchanging ghost stories and encounters amongst us. This topic has been our 'hot' favourite ever since the 7th month and we always chatted abt this during our lunches at the staff canteen, and some of my colleagues were really scared stiff! It was really super funny and entertaining to hear them recount their experiences and hearsay, but i must admit they're quite superstitious sometimes! I still believe more in science. ;P

Time flies!!~~ It'll be my last day next Thurs and I can't bear to leave them! We make the most noise in the office but it's really great to have their company. Time passes by MUCH faster when we have something to gossip or chat about heh :P

me and mandy eva and chris

the finance angels!

Thanks for the wonderful company ladies!! ;)

hospitalised
Saturday, August 19, 2006 @ 10:48 pm

I was hospitalised on Thurs evening, after my tennis lessons for some irregular heart palpitations.

My heart was literally pounding through my t-shirt and it was getting me all worn out and light-headed.

I managed to get Dad to pick me up from the tennis centre and we sped away to a clinic in Sengkang.

Once there, the doc diagnosed that I could be suffering from SVT (aka supraventricular tachycardia) When I heard this long medical term, my mind jus went blank and I was later told that I would need to go to the hospital coz the clinic doesn't have the facilities to treat me proper. I laid down in the clinic while they confirm my prob with an ECG, and to their horror, my heart was pounding at 200 beats per minute! More than 3 times that of normal heart rate. And to think I actually endured it for almost 2 hours!! :S

When the paramedics came, I was so thankful because I know finally my heart is going to slow down soon.. True enough, on my way to CGH, one of the senior paramedic taught me to pinch my nose and blow out as hard as I can, a method called Valsalva maneuver which actually managed to bring down my racing heartbeat to about 100 per minute.

After all the pounding and fussing with the ECG maps, I was really tired. So sorry to make my parents worry, could see Mum's worried expression when she saw me being wheeled into the ambulance. :/ Dad and Gor was also anxious when they saw me, the only thing I could reassure them was that I will get better.

After staying for 2 days for some oberservation, I was finally able to discharge this afternoon. But the guys still popped by ( actually I'd say made all the way down to the other side of SG) to visit me and gave me a big GREEN balloon! and they caught candid shots of me sleeping on the bed!! (I seriously din know they were posing lar!!!)

DSC00037

I got so bored that I fell asleep after lunch, and let them took 'advantage' of me!!!

DSC00039

i looked DAMN haggard lar!!! :S

It was really sweet of them to come visit, at least I don't feel so bored in the hospital, surrounded by very ill grannies! Hospitals really aren't the place for people to rest, coz it's either too noisy or too bright, and every now and then, you'll get disturbed by nurses taking your temperature and blood pressure! (ok i appreciate that it's their duty, but i seriously need sleep!)

Juz wanna thank God for answering my prayers and giving me such a speedy recovery! Thanks to my family for their love, my darling, and my bunch of pals! :)

We meant to have a proper gathering but who knows, me being hospitalised actually got all of us to meet up! Blessing in disguse! :)

anybody missed me?
Wednesday, August 09, 2006 @ 10:25 am

haha I'm not being bhb here, but seems like alot of my pals kept pestering me to update my blog!! (they din noe my intention of not blogging was so that they can keep seeing pictures of the pretty sHu at convo ball!!! *wahaha*)

anyway, life's been the same so far, just that as the Ghost Month approaches, there are fewer banquets held in the hotel, and thus less work for me. Nowadays, I finished my job scope before lunch and sometimes as early as 1030am!! Can u imagine how I was going to spend the rest of the day until i knock off??? Sighz, not that I wan to do so fast one, but there really isn't alot of things for me to do in the first place lar!! haizzz :/ Think I really should try to S L O W down coz I just dun feel quite right whenever I helped other colleagues to do their stuff, it's as if I'm trying to show that I'm a much more efficient worker than them and who knows, they may not like it coz it makes them feel pressurised to catch up with me or wat. Office politics lar... or like wat Sin's nick says - Offlitics: the new term! -_-"

On another note, my friend in PWC already sourced out my grouping and my jobs for me! *faint* I begin to dread 4th Sept liaoz... how? Haiz, i guessed since I've chosen this route, I will just take it as it comes ba... I think being in PWC is really nt as bad as I am imagining.... *cross fingers* But I can't wait to start work with hOi!!! It's gonna be so exciting to be able to work with her and going in as the same batch too! Altho we may not be in the same groups or clients, it's always comforting to know that I have a dear fren who is there with me!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

On another note, it's National Day today!! Duno why I feel so excited this year, prob coz it's one of the very FEW public holidays that I get to enjoy!!!! Next one will be Deepavali and Christmas liao.. so looooooong!!! The bane of working: why so few public holidays!!! :S

Just want to wish some of my pals who are overseas who are not able to enjoy this public holiday, a very HAPPY NATIONAL DAY!!!! I caught the 2nd fireworks display last night at Marina Square, boy was it crowded!!! Loads of people have already gathered at around 6-ish and all the shopping malls, food courts, fast food chains were having super long queues!!! Our friends took 30min just to buy Long John's!! Can u imagine that?? All just to catch 10min of sparks on the sky. -_-"

Nonetheless, it was really beautiful coz we don't get to see this often, only once a year (or rather 4x a year during the National Day period). Everyone cheered when there's a magnificent display of fireworks. Really glad SG gov made a special Fireworks Festival every year, coz they noe we can't play with firecrackers or another simliar types on our own. 一年一次的烟花,提醒着我,能够在新加坡生长,其实是多么幸福的一件事!

I'm super hooked onto this Taiwanese drama 《恶作剧之吻》。I guessed some of you might have watched it already, those who haven't, you can borrow from me!! It's really damn nice!! The leads and all of the cast acted very well and the songs at each different scene really enhanced the mood that the director and producers want to presnt.. It's one of the nicest Taiwanese show I've watched so far! :P

I think I got a mild case of addiction on the show liao. Even though I watched finish it like last week, I can't get some of the 'classic' scenes out of my mind! I went to find all of the songs from their OST, the 'special episode' from the show and their desktop wallpaper!!!

Evidence of my 痴狂: (I'm listening to continuos repeat of the OST almost everyday! :P)

Seriously, this show is super farni yet touching at the same time! Definitely worth your time glued in front of the tv for 30 episodes!!! :P

#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^#^

Alrite, it's time for my taiwanese drama again! (no! it's NOT the same show lar!! :P) Enjoy this public holidays everyone!!! ;)

Cheers ~ sHu
