jus read Roy's blog, and his entry has set me wondering about sth that has been on mind all this while....


Well, altho I've accepted PwC's offer to become Auditor come September, I'm still looking out for other jobs that may have better prospects than this one.

I'm not saying being an auditor has no future prospects, but seriously, who doesn't wan to get more job offers so that we can compare and choose one that has higher pay and better future prospects?

not like my results are darn good, i'm still wondering if i can secure my 2nd uppers as of now. :/

but then again, i always have the mindset to just try for any kinds of openings there are.

i've sent applications for HSBC-HK, Citibank's Global Consumer Banking MA prog, General Electric and others...

but u noe the results, NIL reply so far... :S

why I guess i can understand why i'm not selected, coz without being on Dean's List with fantastic results nor do I have outstanding CCA involvement, it's q hard to actually believe i would get an interview opportunity frm any of this big firms.

was discussing with Liu BiBi the other day, and what he said was quite true: Either we quit from auditing in the first 1-2 years of our job, or we dun quit until we are in the managerial level, coz then we'll have 'higher value-add' and perhaps we'll stand better chance to venture to other corps.

i told myself, i would def slog it out for the first 3 years, and then decide what will be the next path i should take. If i'm happy with auditing, i'll take CPA and prob apply to go UK to study under PwC's sponsorship and be bonded for the next 5 years thereafter. Afterall, i'm only 30, at the end of the whole thing, still young..

but then again, if I really don't like auditing, I guess i'll quit and find another job after 1 or 2 years. BUT, wat other jobs can I find?

Most of the companies are rather 'narrow-minded' in the sense that, when they see that you have accounting background, they will normally put u in their finance/operations/controls dept, and there is very LITTLE chance that you may be transferred to other depts like HR, marketing, financial analysts and such....

so my degree is kinda a bane and a boon for me.. but well, I chose to study this and i'm alr graduating soon, so i can't do anything much now.

i've considered taking another degree, the new B.Bus in Tourism and Hospitality Mgmt in NTU, BUT, i alr have probs paying off my study loan (i NEED to pay back 1K each month for the first year if i wan to avoid the bank interests), and my parents have worked too hard for so many years, putting me through to Uni, i really dun wan to use their money anymore...

well, i guess, there's nothing ELSE i could do now, cept to study hard for my final 2 modules and hopefully get all As so I can at least guarantee to graduate with a good honours...
